I’m shocked the media broke character and asked some difficult questions they obviously can’t answer.

@Hugh Janus Well, China does seems to be watching Putin's tactics and adopting them with the intent of attacking Taiwan and Japan. But ultimately China has shown more restraint because of the trade benefits it gets with the rest of the world to behave. The Kremlin will eventually have to obey China like Russia was a vassal, and that's not going to go over well in Russia. But I do understand your concern there.

Vor 3 MonateP Pen
@A P Absolutely. We are better off today than during the cold war. There are many reasons for this. First, USSR was second largest economy. USSR was larger territory. USSR had nuclear triad which stands on ICBMs/hypersonic weapons only today. The US has better defenses against ballistic missiles. NATO has expanded. The list of advantages goes on and on. Actually, Iraq 1991 war was a proxy war of USSR and USA and USA beat the crap out of USSR's technology. That is why USSR collapsed. It realized that it is no match for NATO F-117. The stealth was proven during 1991 war. Even missile defenses were proven when Saddam shot scuds at Israel.

Massive consequences? Well, we already imposed economic sanctions on Russia, so what else can we do? Go to war with them? It's not like war with Iraq or Afghanistan where we can bomb them, and they can't bomb us back. In my opinion, there is no reason why American youth should spill their blood in Ukraine. We should have learned that in Vietnam. Ukraine has the misfortune of being located right between two hostile entities. They ought to develop the smarts to figure out how to stay neutral.

Vor 3 MonateMukul Gogoi
In a simplistic situation every country has a choice to join any group or a military alliance but if another country is certain that it will be detrimental to their security it will take actions. Here Russia feels so and it can justify itself to take steps. Here we are in a No win situation for all. However if NATO gives a guarantee that Ukraine will not NATO there will be peace in Europe. Ball is in the courts of NATO countries specifically the European countries. If the current situation leads to a shooting war blame will squarely fall on the shoulders of President Biden and the western leaders not Putin.

Iran-Saudi sudden diplomatic relations after 6 years of break-up. A smart move from Saudis to not put all the eggs in one basket. The improved relations with Iran, Russia, and China are a good insurance policy. It seems US has outplayed its role in the Middle East. They are realizing US leadership is declining in the middle east for over 15 years. Asean economy soon will surpass that of the EU. The US asked Saudi Arabia to upgrade and renovate the oil refineries in Houston but the Saudis said no. But a year later, the Saudis built a brand new refineries in China worth about 10 billion dollars. Is it because the Saudis wants the US to stay dependent on the oil from them? The US asked the Saudis repeatedly to increase production of oil but there’s a long silence from the other end. They’re only selling oil to China and to Russia and they get paid in digital currency, technology or weapons from Russian.

Vor 3 MonateAdam Mcgrath
Russia itself might not be a threat alone but they also have partners. We don't want to get involved at a time with our economy so fragile and our people so demoralized.
Vor 3 MonateAyy Lmao
@Jeffery Tokarsky well the fact that it is a global effort thanks to NATO makes it less scary. Unfortunately war tends to accelerate technological advancement to adapt tools for the purpose of solving military needs. So yes, war is typically good for economies as it creates employment, additional economic activity, and the development of new technologies which filter through to other industries. With as many countries standing behind Ukraine after we witnessed Russia take Crimea back in 2015. I would hope that we stand behind our Allies who are calling on us to help. Ukraine has been begging the United States to get involved for years. I don’t want this to take away from the sentiment that this isn’t a US problem and we have enough problems here. We do have a lot going on in the US as is already and our leaders whether they be Republican or Democrat dont seem to know what they are doing. But with the way Russia is acting and has acted in the past if we don’t stop this now they won’t stop they’ll keep taking countries they deem as part of the Russian Federation. The whole world already stood idle when they took Crimea even though nobody recognizes it as a Russian state. Now they are going for more and if we stand idle again how long will it be before they take another country. Now we do have nukes nowadays but Russia, China, Britain, France, and the US have admitted that no one can win a nuclear war. Couple this with the New START agreement that just got extended to 2026. I think it’s clear the intentions are not to go nuclear but to keep it a conventional war. So all in all something should be done about Russia, they have taken Crimea in 2015 they should not be able to take Ukraine. I’m not saying that war is the answer to this but what else are we supposed to think when Russia is very clearly going to try and take Ukraine just as they did Crimea. Are we supposed to do nothing and leave our allies to do this alone? Enough people out of country already don’t like the US. I think not getting involved in this when you have major US allies like Britain, France, Germany, Canada, and more would be a slap to the face of our allies and will hurt us more than it will help us. I know times are hard but look at the history and the facts. We became a major world economic power because of a lot of things but if you sit here and say WWII didn’t help our economy the history shows it bolstered our economy to a world leading one. It’s sad to say it but war prints money.

M Brennan sounds very hawkish, itching for a strong response and forcefully arguing for imposing sanctions now. I’m shocked that she is so militant and anxious to impose sanctions even before any invasion, thus eliminating any incentives not to invade.

I still think it's funny we have an "A. Blinken" in office. I can't stop thinking about Robin Hood Men in Tights. Ahchoo: A Blinkin! Blinkin: Did somebody say "Abe Lincoln"? Ahchoo: No I didn't say "Abe Lincoln". I said, "Hey Blinkin". On a serious note, All any civilized country can do when an uncivilized country invades another, is apply sanctions. In this case, it's just gonna be us showing Russia that we don't like what they're doing.

Blinken: Stop it Russia. Russia: Sends more troops and conducts more exercises. US looks weak after pullouts from Iraq and Afghanistan. Ukraine will be left to it's own defense like Afghanistan and Vietnam. Should have either stayed to win or not invaded in the first place.

To be fair America never really does anything until it's directly attacked.

Like any good stage magician, Joe is having us focus on planned and pre announced Russian military training exercises to take our focus off a dismal domestic situation.

the point isn't for war to actual start, but to come to a common ground to not start war whilst negotiating a way out of such situations. however with our governments leaders... yeah idk so much about us being able to prevent a war.

Blinken reminds me of the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz .. ‘Put ‘em up, put ‘em up…you wanna fight.. ? Put ‘em up..which one of you first..? I’ll take both of you on.. you and China.. I’ll take you on with one hand behind my back…😂😂😂
