As a black man living in the south who knows MAGAs, the skit really does illustrate how much rural whites and blacks have in common.

Thank you, James! I'd like to bring you over a banana puddin' for that answer :-) If you listen to the news, you'd think the South is in a full on race war.

Kenan Thompson's character blended perfectly with Tom Hanks' character. It was as if they met in the parking lot of a Lowes or Home Depot. 100% authentic, sincere and realistic, as each and every one of us have encountered a Doug.

The way Tom keeps acting the part after the titles come up at the end, shows what a damn good actor he truly is. So many cast members break character as soon as the end of the sketch is called, but Tom just went for it, explaining his views on What Lives Matter...

This is one of the best SNL skits they've ever done. It's hilarious, topical, and surprisingly understanding of other people's views without just taking easy cheap shots. Vor yearJesse Johnston +62
This skit was from the pre-Trump era. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact we weren't having cheap shots at each other like we do now.
Vor yearChris Snyder +386
@Jesse Johnston I don't think that's accurate. He's wearing a MAGA hat and the skit is 4 years old, which would be Trumps first year. This was right in the heart of Trump era, and fully within the time everyone was taking cheap shots at each other, which is what makes this skit so beautiful by not stooping to the level everyone else was at that time. This skit is a masterpiece of comedic professionalism.

All the best sketches have a natural rhythm to them and the performers actually know their lines so there are no awkward gaffs. Everyone is actually reacting to each other without breaking the illusion that this is a real game show. I bet they were afraid of what would happen if they screwed up in front of Tom Hanks so they put more effort into their performances.

I think I've watched this video about a half dozen times over the years and it's still funny as hell. I think it's because it was made back before people had become so easily offended by every damn thing they came across.

Keenan and Tom Hanks work well together. They should consider doing a movie.
