I remember as a kid, when boxing was still legal in Norway we had a boxer fighting a match in Las Vegas. We had to watch it at my uncles place, he had a satellite dish. Our guy was mediocre he lost, I remember its was still kinda interesting in a way. But after that came the main event, with Mike Tyson... I looked at Mike and thought, tsss this dude is way too big. Slow af, heavy weight is boring. A boxing match has never again made the same impression on me. This was the Iron Mike up and coming at his prime, he was as fast or faster then a feather weight, with lightning fast reflexes and a technique that was godly. I cant remember who his opponent was but he was totally outclassed. He didn't stand a chance. Later on the sports news we had a interview with our guy, and they started talking about Mike. He said yeah I know Mike we used to train in the gym together. I was like wow, he knows Mike? I was a instant fan.

Most boxers of this era where watching Mike's fights from up close, live in the arena. They must have seen something terrifying in Tyson because they did not dare to look him straight in the eye when they were finally in the ring with him. I think most boxers challenged mike because of their ego, thinking they were better than a teenager... Some of those boxers changed their mind when they stood in front of tyson moments before the bell. Primal fear reminded them of what they saw in the arena. Other boxers where to egoistic, naïve and really believed they where the best. Still afraid but to proud to admit it. It didnt matter if you where 'confident' or not, mike was going to bent your reality with his fists. When guided well in life, mike tyson was a murder weapon. Most of his opponents didnt compete in a sport anymore, they just wanted to stay alive.

@The Big Enchilada Height can provide a huge advantage sometimes, especially with defense. But you're right that the power of punches is determined mostly by weight. But throw in Mike's hand speed probably adds even more power behind his blows, plus his footwork and how he gets all his weight behind his punches you have a guy who delivers insane knockouts.

Weight is everything, in a sport like boxing being taller could be a detriment to you because blocking hits coming from down low’s much harder than from the sides. Coupled with the fact that mike’s fast as all hell and you’re entering uppercut central.

You really see the force with which he's punching when he misses. His arm goes through the full range of available motion in the air, and anything that gets caught in it's way is going along for that ride because the dude hits like a train.

@Coomingnotgoing Mayweather could never fight Tyson no matter when because of the difference in weight
Vor 9 MonateNitsua Nomrah
@Bob Donald lol what in an alternate reality where Mayweather gains 100lbs? That's a man vs a child comparison... Mayweather is good but size and strength matters. He's a defensive fighter with good cardio, he aims to win by getting more points. He's good at the sport. Mike Tyson wants to knock your head off. He's good at fighting. No discussion. They'd be airing his funeral on ESPN

Epitome of speed and power. I get the power part, but so amazed by his speed. The strength it takes to throw that much power in a millisecond. Unbelievable 🤯 he makes it look easy. Mike is great and deserves all the recognition. But so does Cus, and I want to know how Cus reached through to Mike. I need a Cus in my life.

When I watch this I feel bad for mike. He has probably one of the greatest reasons to be angry. He pretty grew up in the worst kind of childhood setting, seeing and doing things no child should. It’s not that it set a fire inside of him, but lit the fuse to a doomsday machine which is what mike was. He boxed like he was trying to kill the evils that he had been through.
Vor yearV Power

'IRON' MIKE TYSON . I believe is the greatest ever boxer EVER! I read that Mike Tyson had close to 150 Street fights in Brooklyn before his pro boxing career or there abouts... I notice that Mike always is very disciplined when it comes to keeping a tight guard up when he's not landing rock-hard whacks. I like Mike's attitude as well. Respectful 🙏 Bone crusher Smith vs Tyson was a heck of a fight . Both gave each other a very tough time.

Vor 9 MonateThe Big Enchilada
Weight is everything, in a sport like boxing being taller could be a detriment to you because blocking hits coming from down low’s much harder than from the sides. Coupled with the fact that mike’s fast as all hell and you’re entering uppercut central.
