Was born in 99 and I lost my father when I was 6. This game is the single thing that makes me feel even remotely connected to him. He was 26 at the time he died but I remember him ALWAYS playing halo. I remember him playing on online I remember going to Halo system link meet ups, I even remember my mom playing with him. After he was gone I inherited his old school xbox and played only Halo CE and Halo 2 until Halo 3 came out. This games means so much more to me than any bungie or 343 ind. employee could ever know. Oh how I miss the good ol days too. I remember when it was soo easy to find a custom game match and play custom for hours making friends and having fun. And lets not forget the halo youtube scene before it was really a thing, like when red vs blue were still youngins, arby n the chief, dues ex machina hahaha Anyways sorry about the long comment I just felt what you all said.

A lot of these trailers, the 1st Wars one and Reach especially really show the absolute terror and strength of the of the Covenant. I think we forget about that when we’re mowing down rows of them as Chief, but the bravery of the Marines and ODSTs is awesome. One of the reasons I think Reach and ODST are the best.

i really liked odst because of the firefight mode. it was awesome and there were stakes in it, it wasnt just a mod-able sandbox like it was in reach and the games after

8:14 That one is my favorite, it makes you think of how terryfing the war would be for a marine, not even H3 ODST can portray that. Something like Doom Eternal and Doom 3, In one you're that thing the enemies fear, in the other one you're just a soldier trying to survive. Most of time we take control of a supersoldier, taller, stronger, faster, with better armor and shields that will do wonders to keep you alive, and we still struggle sometimes. Just imagine what it would be to not have any of that.

Well pretty much all of the supersoldiers also died, even Noble 6, so it'd probably be absolutely terrifying for everyone involved. John only survived Reach because he had a bunch of Spartan IIIs sacrificing themselves to protect the Pillar of Autumn, and Reach itself was pretty much a suicide mission for anyone not on the Pillar. Master Chief is also scary to the lower covenant, but I think most of the elites see him as a worthy challenge more than anything. People forget that Elite's are crazy strong, incredibly fast, often have cloaking technology, and their shields can take an absolute pounding before they go down, and if you don't kill them from range quickly they are going to eviscerate you with hot plasma. Elite's basically handicap themselves by focusing on close combat and refusing to use anything but ceremonial armor and stealth and are still super dangerous, imagine if they used their tech to make an exoskeleton like the MJOLNIR. Meanwhile the Brute's are strong enough to tangle with Spartan's in close combat and win (larger brutes are significantly larger and heavier than Chief in his most recent MJOLNIR, they are more than half a tonne of muscle), they can survive ridiculous injuries, and they often have weapons that can instantly kill you through cover. So for a normal soldier dealing with that, how exactly do you deal with those enemies unless you use far superior tactics. I always thought that the ODST have to be augmented, not to the degree of a Spartan obviously, but they are clearly way more dangerous than normal troops, and why wouldn't they give them super future steroid's. Even then, the only reason why many of them survived is that the Covenant underestimated the human forces.

It is so amazing to think, that from humble beginnings of Halo 1 CE, the franchise turned into this epic. What an incredible journey and I feel soo privileged to be alive for it. Halo deserves its status as one of the greatest videogame series of all time.

I still remember when I first saw the ad for Halo 3. It was (and still is) truly an intelligent piece of work with the dramatic diorama creating a "lore" around an apparently legendary war. Most trailers for games at the time were pushing for the flashiest computer graphic and Halo 3 went the opposite direction. The use of Chopin Prelude Op.28 No.15 with its epic and sombre tonal sound is great too because that piece of music is actually about undergoing nightmarish event or remembering the dead. The ad does not underestimate your intelligence and challenges you to discover all those nifty details just like you discover the story behind the diorama as if you were in a museum. Considered an ace production in the advertising industry when it first came out.

Man I'll never forget the live action halo 3 with the ODSTs fighting just to find out where chief is going to land at. That one took so much effort to make.

Anything with halo 3, ODST or Reach stamped in the trailer to this day gives me chills.

Halo Reach. Man that game will always be one of my favorite games of all time. Met so many awesome people and played on their non-stop. I seriously miss those days of playing with so many random people on a custom game just through other friends. Edit: Can we all also appreciate Keith Davids for voicing The Arbiter. What an amazing job he did and how well it sounded and fit him. Always thought Arbiters voice was the most badass and best voice to listen to.

I think "Deliver Hope" is my favorite. Somehow it is only just now dawning on me that we probably see Kat sustain the injuries that result in her arm replacement in that trailer. I also like the "We Are ODST" trailer, but I think how good that trailer is contributed to how my friends and I ended up hating the game. It was extremely hyped up and then we didn't really feel like the badass, tough as nails, just shy of Spartan soldiers that the ODSTs were made out to be. Every moment of that game, I couldn't wait to be back in the boots of a Spartan. Also, that first trailer doesn't make any sense at all. Even if the chief had died, the UNSC would never announce it on interplanetary television. They used the Spartans as a propaganda machine, never reporting them as having perished. They were only ever marked MIA. Because they wanted to paint the image of them being immortal killing machines/war heroes.

The Halo World is amazing. So much passion in it's creativity. A very extensive story.

Reach was such a sad game and I love it. ODST and reach were works of art. All the halo games were even 5 to an extent.

Halo5 has hands down the best level design of any halo game. Say what you want about the story or the fact that it was a shorter campaign the verticality of the levels were amazing to me. Run it back

One of my favorites has to indeed be 'Halo: Landfall', it demonstrates the pain and brutality of war, the dirty and oftenly destructive setting and atmosphere was just icing on the cake. Although, I think it would've rather worked quite well for Halo 3: ODST's marketing campaign as well, I like that it also remotely features just how much hope is left in humanity despite the overwhelming odds as shown when Spartan-117's arrival was detected through the atmosphere, beginning the events of Halo 3. Overall, pretty good stuff

For a second i thought you were talking about the noble six you play as then i did remember that he was a replacement for somebody else in the beginning. Its crazy when you think about it, both noble six's sacrificed themselves in suicide missions. One died before the rest of the team the other died at the very end. The second noble six death always made me sad the most out of any of them, secondly would be cat but the others died heroically. Cat shouldve gotten the cahnce to sacrifice herself like everyone else besides emile who was just snuck

FUD was a mini series, not an actual movie. Same with the prequel story with Locke. And Landfall was H3 marketing. It was never going to be a movie. However, if a full-blown Hollywood blockbuster were to happen, I'd lose my shit. Landfall was the best imo. Something in that realm as a feature film would be incredible.

District 9 was a salvaged halo movie. It was the same visual effects guy who did some of the halo trailers and later chappie
