Good way to blow up a battery. When a lead acid battery is charged water in the battery is forced to take on an electron by ionization and in doing so releases free hydrogen, and quite a bit of it. That is why all wet cell batteries have vents. If the concentration around the vent is high enough it will mix with surrounding oxygen and become explosive. Throwing sparks at the vent by bridging the terminal is asking for an explosion. If it lights off the flame front will follow the source until it hits the vent, at wich point it will carry into the battery wich lights off the hydrogen and oxygen still inside. When the pressure inside the battery exceeds about 10 psi all remaining fuel is consumed in about 30 milliseconds turning that plasic box full of acid into a grenade spraying fire, acid, plastic and chunks of lead in all directions. You might get away with it 1000 times but the one time you dont, will be the day you meet your maker.

У меня брат также пытался их восстановить но чуда не произошло, сдал в приёмку,да есть результат если в нем засох гель, после заливки дистилированной воды работает но не долго, тех ампер часов он уже не выдаёт.

@Рамиль Гарнаев Дистилированная вода почти не помогает , я в свои 2 АКБ ( 6 вольтовые ) добавлял электролит для автоАКБ , до добавления на 1 АКБ было меньше 1 вольта , а на другом 1,5 вольта , после добавления электролита ( шприцом с иглой прямо в середину мягкой прослойки между пластинами заганял электролит ) заливал по максимуму аж до резиновой пробки и оставлял на ночь , утром проверил напряжение и оно поднялось до 2, 8 вольтна том что было еньше 1 вольта , а на втором после заливки и отстоя стало 2,7 вольта , просто стоя без зарядного , затем шприцом откачал излишек электролита до уровня что только немного покрыты пласти были и поставил на зарядку , по началу давал напряжение до 18 вольт , ток потребления был всего 30 мА , когда ток начинал подыматся я снижал напряжение ( заряжал лабораторным блоком питания ) , в конце концов АКБ стан нормально брать и ток и вольтаж ( согласно надписи на АКБ ) . После данной процедуры установил АКБ в автомобиль для ребёнка , АКБ работает на ура , пару месяцев ребёнок катается на авто ( только нужно следить чтобы не высаживался АКБ ниже 9,8 вольт ) иначе будет плохо для АКБ , запас хода ( ёмкость ) не измерял , но судя по времени катания ребёнка акб хватает примерно как с новым , может немного меньше чем было , когда авто было новое с новыми АКБ ( авто покупал год назад ) , ну так и ребёнок не уменьшился за год . Так что дистилированная вода не всегда хорошо помогает с гелевым АКБ .

However, as I can guess, it might be diluted Sulphuric Acid, which decreases the pH value of the solvent and makes it more acidic, thus giving a kick to the battery plates to release ions to induce current flow. Me consta porque fueron varias las baterías que explotaron en mi taller, como consecuencia de la primera mi hermano sufrió que un trozo de la caja le incrustó los vidrios del anteojo en el ojo izquierdo y fue salvado en el Hospital Lagleyze en al mismo hecho ya que estábamos juntos agachados frente a esa batería me salpicó ácido en los ojos y un corte en la mejilla derecha. No sean confiados, ES MUY PELIGROSO.

You should check each Battery with a fix load and a DC voltmeter. Spark test is not the correct way of testing. Also there’s no or hardly any difference in “spark” before and after adding battery water.

I think someone tooks his brain. Its a stupidiest idea to short the battery. BTW, these batteries dont have any liquids as well - they are made using AGM (gel) technology. I would suggest you to short lithium battery. This experience wil remain to the end of your life which will be short and bright! P.S. some batteries are exploding while being shorted :)

Ребята, что вы зацыклились на вольтметре, он вам без нагрузки покажит лишь холостое напряжение а оно даже на осыпывшимся акумуляторе будет в норме, и если кто не заметил, то это не свинцово кислотный акумулятор который выделяет водород при зарядки и большой нагрузки а скорее всего гелевый. Мне больше интересно что он туда залил?

I have removed those covers before..some are glued.a few drops literally will keep the cover on.if not the rubber caps can and do pop off from gas pressure inside the battery. The cover will hold them im place and the cover can be removed if you literally use 3 drops or so.

You don’t add sulfuric acid to a battery, you add distilled water. The battery consumes water, not the acid. All you’re gonna do by adding more acid is kill the battery.
