In situations when things NEED to get done, most men accept a leader who takes charge and they willingly do their roles so that the task can get finished quickly and properly. To her point, Lord of the Flies wasn't technically just a book. In real life, some tribal boys stole a local islander's boat and ended up getting stranded on another island for several years. The boys not only survived, but thrived! When they were first stranded, one of the boys had a broken arm, I think. They fashioned a sling for him. Chores and tasks were divvied up equally, but if someone got sick or injured the healthy ones picked up the slack. They even had effectively a time-out spot if someone was mean or bad. Their experience disproves the book, that essentially children when deserted will resort to all kinds of evil.

That’s actually a really cool ability a lot of men tend to have. When it comes to survival, they put you to work. They see what you will be best at based off of your skills and talents and put you in a roll that benefits the group as a whole. I think a similar experiment, where children were divided up based off of gender and had all their needs met had a different outcome though. The girls created a little society and the boys were just chaos (if I remember correctly). I think that shows the strength women have. So, for the most part, In a non survival social experiment, girls do better than boys. But, in survival, boys do better than girls. Please note, this is not trying to make a hasty generalization of the genders. There are totally some cross over between what boys and girls can do (there are plenty of girls who can do survival better than some men). It’s just that these studies tend to show a common pattern of thought that prove men and women tend to think differently and have complimentary strengths. It makes me think of the saying “men tamed the west, but women civilized it”. 😆

So men have environmental instincts while women have social instincts... Y know, if that is all the case then why can't men and women just work with each other considering if they both have a certain skill that the other needs why sabotage it?

Why no one is commenting why this is happening. It’s because of the role we have to fill in society. My brothers learnt all the practical stuff from my dad while I had to figure out how to do it all by myself. I am glad we have YouTube an all the tutorials. Boys often go camping and fishing with their dads and not take their daughters. It’s unfair to say one gender is better than the other. It’s up to what we learned.

That’s a fair observation. I still remember when my brother was in a boy scout-like troop and they got to go camping, did night hikes, learned how to start a fire, how to fish, how to pitch a tent, etc. I was so disappointed when my Brownie group just stayed in a cabin and the only thing they taught us was how to cook bacon on the stove and we made bead art the rest of the time. I was so jealous of my brother.

Most importantly, the men all became friends screaming at the top of their lungs.

I think it’s more of a personality thing. A lot of men are told to be like this since little kids they are praised and say they can do whatever and they’re good at everything. But women are humbled, they are told they need a man and they can’t do this they can’t do that so that’s how they grow up thinking and doing. If you tell a woman growing up that she can do anything and praised the same way she could get to this point. Maybe not physically the same as a man but she could figure out her own ways. Again, there’s also men that cannot survive in islands if they were thrown in there. Physically men have more advantage but it doesn’t mean women can’t reach that point of survival.
