The reason why they fly straight without fins is that the center of thrust is way in front of center of mass and it is towards the direction of travel. It basically uses its own mass and thrust to stabilize.

It won’t self stabilize. That’s the mistaken thinking that Goddard had.

@Andrew Ding It wont self-stabilise however it will take more energy to rotate, therefore in the 2-3 seconds it is actully airborne the rotation should be negligible or at least more manageable.

they don't have the full on odm gear just one that hangs you in the air instead of pulling you everywhere doing damage to property. and it would be useless for warefare as it isn't accurate and would maybe just stop halfway there.

For the spears to fly straight they need to be very front heavy at the tip

@Josiah Stone it's not the same actually as the spear/rocket are inline, then you could counter the gravitational pull a little by remodelling nose cone to create uplift if fired from a specific orientation

Unfortunately not cause they'll launch downwards immediately. that'd be the case if spears were thrown, but just like strapping a rocket to a push bike; no sort of weight distribution could compensate for the sheer force of the rocket trying to fly past the front of whatever its pushing.

One thing that was bugging me when making these were that the thunder spear was actually below where the swords are placed

they use the first trigger to activate the thunder spears. also, the sword hilt is held normally with the thunder spear attatched to the bottom

Wow!!! I don't think I've been so giddy with excitement watching something from a book, manga, film, or show being brought to life as I was with this video. The fact that it worked pretty much as depicted in the manga and anime is very impressive. A rare moment where an anime device would actually work. Loved the slo mo footage of the spears being launched.

They would fly a lot straighter if you put the rocket motors were at the back end of the tubes, as it would greatly decrease the "pendulum effect" that you get from having motors at the front.

I think the fact that they flew straight might have something to do with where the engine is relative to the rest of the rocket. Since it is at the front, there is not too much mass in front of it to knock it off course.

This is awesome! My only gripe is they put the launcher on the wrong side of the handle its on the bottom where that metal cap was. They did it upside down.

In hindsight, it really is a wonder why Thunderspears don't jam more often.

theyre already real. theyre called HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank) rounds wich are based on the physical Monroe Effect. they were invented by the Wehrmacht during the 2nd World War. it was known as the Panzerschreck [German=Tank Scare]. Funfact: AoT based a lot of the military weapons or simply designs and even names off of Germany. Examples: Entire Marley Military especially on design , Erens Family Name (Jäger) is Hunter in German. and i think i remember i heard once the entire anime is inspired by Germany during Medivial Times

@Devilz nah that's the anti personnel gear. The thunder spear schematics did come from the MP's research team but it's design and manufacture was by the Hange squad with i'm assuming help from the MPs since the scouts don't have a stable lab. So i guess it was more of a joint effort.
