Andrew Zimmern is a chef, restaurateur, author, and Emmy Award-winning food TV pioneer. You can catch his latest series, Family Dinner with Andrew Zimmern, Sunday nights on Magnolia Network, and Wild Game Kitchen is coming later this year to Outdoor Channel. But how is he with spicy food? Zimmern may have traveled the globe eating chilies in Northern Thailand and mala hot pot in Chengdu, but he's never faced hot sauces like Da Bomb and The Last Dab Apollo. Watch him check "Hot Ones" off his bucket list and share wisdom on everything from the cultural significance of supermarkets, to how birria tacos took over social media.

Let's be real: AZ killed those wings!

True. It was like nothing. He wasn't overly dramatic like Gordon was

Did he ever. The vocabulary in this episode is superb 🤌🏽 kudos Sean

@19:08 I have a good friend who managed a culver's in college and not only is the food great but they have insanely good sanitation practices. Everything is stainless and constantly scrubbed, you can eat off the floors and when the health inspectors would come through they'd laugh at how clean the place was vs anywhere else. Culver's is a corporate culture of greatness.
Vor 4 MonateKim Evan's
Luv this format, luv Sean. What a Smart show that always entertains while being FUN and interesting! The qwestions are unparalleled. The guests top shelf! Then there's the Hot sauce. And last but not least Sean, what a Hottie 🔥 YUM!

But please Sean I don't mind frozen wings as long as they're wings. Save your tasteless white meat chunks

Andrew Zimmern changed my life! I use to be a kid with a picky apatite, until I watched Bizarre Foods! And his lesson and message "Try everything at least twice" STUCK with me! Now I am known by my friends as an Adventurous Foodie, who will try any food, no matter how strange, no matter it's culture of origin, or strange ingredients!! And I've expanded my life and love of food beyond what I ever thought possible, all because I ALWAYS Try it twice! First to meet it, the second to understand it! ❤ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜

@John Sheetz great idea! I got "deathly" sick at one place down there (Florida)! Then the next place, they were friggen AMAZING!

He is the best food guy ever. He being a recovering addict and alcoholic makes me love him even more! As a fellow person in recovery, he is an inspiration

Legit impressed with how he handled the wings. He wasn't about that nibble shit, he got in there and wiped em out and didn't break a sweat.

Andrew eating wings like they’re mild and the entire wing. This dude is the realest I’ve ever seen on the show just to be honest.

Andrew's description of the gas station pizza being like getting a hug from an old friend was just so genuine and amazing
Vor 4 MonateSonya Norman
I met Andrew Zimmern at the "Taste of Cayman" event in early 2020, he was just as nice as he is here. He would explain why to cook the steak the way he was showing us, to achieve the best flavor and you felt the joy he had in teaching. He talked about the struggles small restaurants have as well as hunger in America with passion, intelligence, and kindness in a factual..not confrontational way, which was refreshing. It was an honor to watch him cook and listen to him share his stories. I loved watching him on this episode appreciating and talking about the ingredients.
Vor 4 MonateMamalee
Wow, very down to earth and a children’s hunger advocate! What a stand up guy.

@phiksit I was on the free lunch program. My parents were absolute losers.

Zimmern doesn't get enough credit for his work. I like Bourdain but he's a bit hifalutin at times especially after he got more famous. ZImmern has always been really humble and down to earth, always visiting everyday places, meeting the average people and eat their foods, and promoting good causes.
Vor 4 MonateNelly Dupree
I love the way Andrew deconstructed the various flavors for each sauce and appreciates the subtle notes of each ingredient.

When he got to The Bomb and said "that's hotter then a crack pipe on pay day" I absolutely lost it. AZ has roots planted into the ground and knows life from all angles and that is super apparent in this episode. great watch!

Many years ago Andrew went to Indian, Alaska to Indian Valley meats to try “moose nose jelly” made by my grandfather and the happiness it brought him for Andrew and the show to come see him was unimaginable. He couldn’t wipe a smile off his face for months. He died in 2020 while I was on my way to Afghanistan and if he went through some of his happiest moments in his life as he took his last breath, I would bet that his time with Andrew was pretty up there. This one goes up in the Hall of Fame. Raise this one to the rafters and retire it as one of the best. Great questions, fantastic answers, and more insight actually than what we have gotten in a long time from what the sauces and the flavors behind them taste like. Also, one of most wholesome and heartfelt episodes to date. Outstanding and well done. I know he isn't the biggest celebrity on the planet but man I hope a lot of people catch this episode. BTW, he cleaned every wing on his plate. Took them apart and nibbled the bone!

@BrynM "security" is important & a priority in life. Every man probably has this as their top 3 priorities to supply to their family, while watching the Olympics has zero true "value" to most people. If you need the Olympics to motivate you, you more than likely have an abundance of more important issues going on in your life.
Vor 4 Monatepennsylvaniapatriot
@BrynM I think you might want to redirect that question to any non combatant in the middle east.
Vor 4 MonateBrynM
@CS how much "national security" do you need? Every kid could be fed and the US would still out spend the next 9 nations combined!
Vor 4 MonateCS
@BrynM glorified competition that doesn't effect hardly anyone vs national security.... 🍎 & 🍊
Vor 4 MonateBrynM
@CS Even better since the Olympics inspire people to achieve something, take a miniscule fraction of the military industrial complex funding. The US spent $14.2 Billion on school lunches in 2019. Let's say we triple that to total $42.6 Billion by taking $28.4 Billion from the military. Hell they blew almost that much on three Zumwalt class destroyers before cancelling them because they cost too much ($22.5 Billion on three ships) US military budget for 2019 = $617 billion , so that increase above has taken less than 5% of the military budget. That still leaves the US outspending China, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, UK, Japan and South Korea COMBINED. All of which are the next 9 highest spenders.

@MyKeeP81 no I'm from San Bernardino county, I'm about to get long winded But been with AZ since day 1, and hearing him ecko my feelings on innout is satisfying. They are nice people, from West Covina, but in High school the one near by me was in the east side of Pomona I knew a few ppl that worked at the spot. Some enjoyed the job. But 1 guy, waited for a rush *drive thru line blocking a whole lane on the main road* and he just walked out on them. He hated them I guess And that goat taco stuff, the midwest is at least 15 years behind. My wife's family is from Peubla, her grandma killed one of her turkey for me, and made mole with a clay pot and wood fire from scratch. It was glorious I wish I could take Andrew to meet my in laws, they use bay leave and citrus on the fire grilled carne asada Hand made tortillas, the rice and beans plus the fried onions Anyone need good taco spots, legal and illegal in Southern California area, I knew a bunch

@The Gaming Paladin when I say dad joke I just mean something that is punny...and I love it

you can call it a dad joke if you want, but that was beautiful!

Zimmern talking about those hot Thai Chilies in northern Thailand reminded me of when I sampled some freshly picked from the fields in Java and that was no joke. Still not as excruciating as some habanero peppers but still. 1 of only 2 instances in my life where I started hiccuping just from the spicy hotness.
