The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
The actor and his co-star Adam Driver didn't speak for a week while studying at a Jesuit retreat in preparation for his role in 'Silence.'

Colbert can get the deepest interviews of any late night show, by a mile. The last two minutes of this interview were enriching and raw. Respect for both of these guys.
Vor 5 yearsSarah
@a89 ug223 Colbert is a catholic and has spoken about religion several times on the show. As for his political views I doubt they would hire a conservative to interview people from hollywood.
Vor 6 MonatePat Aherne
@a89 ug223 he's forcing the comedic element. That's all.
Vor 11 Monatea89 ug223
I politely disagree. Colbert comes off as a snarky impetuous child. Have to think that his atheist politics has an underpinning that makes it "cool" to act this way. Seems forced and not like a normal conversation.
Vor yearspencecity99
Damn Stephen went in hard with those questions because he knew Andrew could handle it. What a wonderful and thoughtful interview we got as a result.

Vor 5 yearsFoTo Realistic
He's a really intelligent guy. And I love the fact that Colbert actually talks to him. Not about his love life. Not about seeing a Drake concert. But about the process of training to play a priest. Colbert is a Christian and he doesn't hide it. I just love the conversations this guy has with his guests.
Vor 5 yearsMargaret Kennedy
Fallon couldn't do an interview this good in a million years.
Vor 5 yearssara76561
@E Balla I like Jimmy Fallon’s games but his interviews are trash. By far Conan and Colbert are the best.
Vor 5 MonateTianna Mamo
agreed. Other than Fallon being far less able to hold a serious conversation, I think Fallon gives his guests far less time to think and speak. He always seems to be cutting them off, which is honestly annoying. It's like he's too scared to ever let a moment of silence pass
Vor 5 MonateE Balla
You are right, Fallon couldn't because he is not an intellectual person. You can tell within seconds of listening to him, he's not a well read person or an educated person like Colbert, however Fallon has his own audience. Colbert and Fallon are very entertaining in very different ways. I prefer Colbert though.
Vor yearStella.
yea. he is super fake. his fake laugh is so obvious and if he's not interested in what his guest is saying. u can totally tell his fake enthusiasm. God I miss Craig Ferguson! But in todays world, there is no way his show would work. Sadly so.

When Andrew first claimed that certainty is terrifying, I was completely confused and thought "what the hell?" But as he followed it up with "certainty starts war on behalf of ideology," I was totally scared by how truthful this statement is.
Vor 2 yearsKylie Hansen
@gabzdt Both can be true. Both are displayed in Hacksaw Ridge and Silence to be honest. Silence does a good job of what you commented on with pride and greed. To Rodrigues, his pride stopped him from apostatizing because to him he was Christ like and the simple act of stepping on a painting was too much to bear so people suffered (until they didn’t of course and he came to his senses, thanks to Liam Neeson, on putting pride away to save others like Jesus did) Idk that was just a rant but both certainty and pride, greed, etc start war
Vor 5 Monategabzdt

I love Andrew for actually being real, like most actors just put on a happy face, but Andrew ain't afraid of having an actual conversation
Vor yearC Tantra
Great conversation. Andrew is so deep, I should have noticed this virtue of him sooner. I think the reason why many people often say that Stephen is a terrible interviewer is because, I notice it many times, he tries to trigger conversations like this one with other people, but the interviewees either just do not get it, not interested, or too shy in direct communication as to disable them to converse deeply in a talk show (by this, I mean that not everyone is a good speaker, many people find it hard to find the right words when speaking and thus are better at writing).
Vor 5 yearsCammieBlueSky

Jesuit raised here... When you listen to it being explained it sounds deep and intense but when you see it in action (faith as taught by Jesuits), it's really simple and it touches the heart and soul of anyone, whether a believer or not. Vor 5 MonateBatman
This has got to be one of the best late night interviews I've ever watched. Colbert is able to craft incisive enough questions to get truly unique and thoughtful responses out of his guests that give you a newfound sense of their personalities and perspectives in a way no one else has been able to, especially hacks like Fallon whose idea of entertainment is to laugh at the screen and play loud music to chalk up artificial theater. Furthermore, both this and the Gervais interview had religious _discourse_ rather than _debate_, with both Colbert and his guest being able to articulate their beliefs and ideologies without preaching it or trying to convince each other of their validity. Glad that Late Show's ratings are surging now, its viewership is well deserved for the level of quality it's at.

Vor 5 yearstulayama lavenapi
Don Cresswell I learned to play piano and read music at 4 years old. The spiritual path is just as important in society as becoming a lawyer, or engineer, or medical man. Don't we see young boys playing with train sets, girls playing nurse, or other young children playing like a fireman? Why is spiritual life supposed to be for old people? We are not sure and certain we will reach old age, on the contrary, death happens at any moment.

@Weil Labed salam .. well I'm muslim and us - like christians and jews- our spirituality relates to positive energy as in God, Andrew and occultists- when they mention spirituality they mean satan/the beast/snake of the so called knowledge . notice when he said yes there are good ones when talking about angels. We fast to be humble and they fast for "spirit" or demon to use their body and mind. I find this interview terrifying but thankful to know that's what believers in spirit believe
