@🍄Lotus🍄 I know this was 2 years ago, but I don't see the right answer so I'm answering :). The piano is on a box/riser of some kind, propping it up so it's easier for her to play while standing while she goes between needing to play for certain songs and not for others during a set. Since the whole piano is up on the box, the pedals used to make a note ring out or dampen are also up there. So she has a leg up on the box to be able to control those.

They really are not like that put in the OPEN I think the stage setup gives them a lot of shelter. They are fantastic. Alicia keys well we know. I don't know who the other artists are. But they sure are terrific. And she was good at the Emmys Sunday night to. When I see someone like Alicia I begin regret not practicing the piano.. It really it hit me when. My childhood home was sold. When I realized the piano was gone..was. Told it was mine..oh well.

Who cares if it was rehearsed? They rehearse just for placement and technical aspects. That doesnt mean some of it isn't on the spot. They're experienced enough they can play off of each other if they need or want to.

​@Jeff Castillo It's unlikely they rehearsed every element of the performance, obviously, but they're definitely going to run through it a couple times just to make sure everyone's on the same page about, for example, where they're going to transition to Gravity and how it's going to happen. It's possible they rehearsed it so that John Mayer could cue it in whenever he felt like it, but that's still rehearsing, even if there's an element of improvisation there. There's no way he just randomly threw his song in the middle without everyone knowing lol

Alicia has been one of my favorite artists since I was in elementary school . A Beautiful soul, woman, passion, inspiration and musician. She absolutely killed it as usual for her but how happy she looked preforming this is what really stood out :) .Quest love and John are great in their own right as well.

John Mayer might be excellent at playing Pop and Blues, but is he good at playing classical music? Most likely than not. Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, no one has successfully created a system that classifies the ability of players in such a way that one could determine who is the best one.
