That's not an over statement I've read the writings of the most inspirational men the world has ever known, and this, right here, is rivaled by nothing as one of the most incredibly well written,and inspiring, speech ever given by by a human.

He reminds me of my dad who's an Army General. When we were old enough to understand, dad trained us to ALWAYS make our beds in the morning. We grew up doing that every morning like clockwork. I love my dad & still thank him for all the invaluable life lessons I still live by as an adult.

If everyone knew the training these warriors go thru, they'd respect our boys. It's a special dedicated man to endure the horrors of learning to survive. My brother Marine Recon, some of the inhumane things him, & the others accomplished was unbelievable. To say he's my hero is an understatement. He saw war, looked our enemy in the eye.

I found this speech a few years ago when I was at my absolute lowest losing to drugs and alcohol. I'm 14 months sober as of writing this and this speech was part of my recovery. The ten rules went on my wall and I started to live by them. I fought for my life back harder than I've ever done anything. If anyone is ever struggling, please don't give up, you can overcome.

Awesome man, Keep The Fight Alive is the recovery society’s Motto that I was at, congrats on your 14 months I am on day 4 today, I’ve been in recovery for awhile but I struggled with a legal substance so I collected a year and took a year cake which was false so that brought a lot of shame in me and took me out, but you know it is possible to live a clean life, so keep up the good work man!!

I am a Marine and always will be. Listening to the Admiral took me back to Parris Island where the training tested me to the limit and they tried punishing me to test my mettle to see if I had it to be a combat trained Marine. I couldn't do things right at first and they made me do it over and over until I succeeded and got it. After 3 months of terrible mental and physical training I graduated as a Marine. It was the greatest and proudest day of my life and I am still a Marine at age 85.

I Wish so much I had seen this before his death, somewhere in our years together, I could have loved him a little better, harder, if that were possible. My younger brother wants to be an Air Force pilot and he's having a hard time in his first year of high school, I found this video a couple years ago and I watch it often. I absolutely loved this speech. My husband has passed but I remember telling me how being a marine made him the great man he was. I also have a son-in-law that was a Marine and to this day he follows so many of those learning to be special in each of these rules.

When we were in the military , there were many days out in the middle of no where when you wished there was a bed to sleep in . I'm an 69 year old , 80% disable vet and I still manage to make the bed every day . Like the admiral said , just making that bed in the morning starts your day off in a positive direction. Just knowing I made that bed helps make it easier to face the challenges that follow each day .

I'm suffering from a PTSD since 2000 after an attack of a patient I was treating in my services in the Kosovo. Some good days some good days were the result over the years Believe it or not but I never gave up. The content of your speech Sir was always within my understanding of the life of a soldier. Thanks for these clear words, which I kept and still will keep in mind.

One of the best motivational speeches of all time. I listen to it regularly and share it with people who work for me and people I mentor in leadership roles or are dealing with "Life's Ambushes". While I can relate with Admiral McRaven as a fellow sailor with 20 years of service, his message is very practical na dtranscends the military or SEAL training.

My grandmothers dad was a chief warrant officer in the coast guard, he died of a heart attack. These speeches from the start and now, and the people who helped us get here. The ones who helped us get here, just so people know, GOD BLESS THE WORLD!

I have listened to this inspiring speech so many times. I have had some nasty health issues youand just felt like rolling up and giving up. My one thing was always to make my bed in the morning and I told the Admiral, "I have made my bed" OK I have done that since a child but his comments made me realise that this was an achievement and I thank him for that. Now, being well thankfully,l I still tell Admiral McRaven that "I have made my bed". I hope that he gets to read this and understand that you make a difference.

This encouraged me to move one step at a time and start my day with making my bed. I live in a big house now and have all blessings a human could ask for including a bed that I make first thing in the morning. This guy is a rare human specimen. We need a military full of men who aspire to be like him. All our military needs to stand up and get through to the political elites until you get through their very hard heads.

Good advice for anyone of any age. I am ETERNALLY grateful that our military restructured itself to reward excellence, content of character, integrity and above all perseverance in the face of adversity in our officer corps. It has resulted in the best command structure in the world, which is what you need when the shit hits the fan. These lessons are good for everything in life. I might just put these 10 up in my contractor cube to show I have more integrity than the "real employees" working there.

I expect he had some extra coating from his older brother, Buddy Ryan as well. There is less strain on the shorter bones and the joints on their ends than those of someone taller lifting the same weight due to the shorter lever arm putting less load on the fulcrum (joint) and slightly less bending stress on the shorter bones.

Outside of that, doing things that most people don't do, as in the Admiral's speech, causes you to depart the crowd. You can be like the sheep, or you can do what he says and live above them.

Damn this was an awesome speech. I was in the US Army for 6+ Years. I visited sunny South Viet Nam. I was young, so I was shot at. I served in a few places nd learned quite a bit about being in a team, being in charge and being responsible. I did not know how much I had learned or grown until I came home to go to college. Years later I am retired and living a quiet life in Florida. I know what they put into me. It made me strong enough that others depended on the kid to clean up other peoples messes a half dozen times. But I forgot what the military did for me and to me. Until I saw this video. My time was transformative. It was enriching. It is what made me the human I am today at 71. Thank you, USArmy. Thank you for helping me find my heart and soul and strength. Thank you.

This is what I miss about the military, character & teamwork mattered the most above all. As a veteran or regular citizen now, I noticed how quickly everyone is divided by our differences. We all need each other🇺🇸

I have been practicing making my bed in the morning for several yrs, every morning my ritual is to make my bed, listen gratitude prayer, affirmations, journaling with my coffee to begin. Life has changed a lot for me... losses, failures, sharks, hurts, but every time when I listen, it brings me so much Strength, Power and Hopes. Continue to move forward. Keep going. Just keep moving forward and even sing a great song when the mud is unto my neck. yes!

I don't think this has to do solely with military personnel, however it deserves the salute of every person in not just our country but our entire world. This video's title mislead me. It called this a motivational speech... this is a statement that, if put in practice by more people, WOULD CHANGE THE WORLD BY IT SELF! This Admiral deserved and still deserves the complete and utmost respect in almost every aspect, not just from his comrades, but also from anyone with a sense of respect. Absolutely Incredible. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!

Your speech, these truths, your experience gives you the desire to continue and continue, whatever the trials, the struggles that some people may go through during their lives. what charisma behind so much humility, well done and thank you again and as a great gentleman, former army general and former Chief of Staff of the French army would say: "Faced with the dilution of authority, we would like a generation of leaders rises to decide, to convince, to take us forward, with a vision capable of arousing energies as well as uniting them. We would like a few fewer experts and a few more decision-makers. Less skills and more appetite, less intelligence and more sense. We would like more strategy and less tactics”

I’m not a marine, just a single mum trying her best, at times I felt completely overwhelmed with what was before me, wondering what on earth I was supposed to do to make this work. Your body is tired, you can’t seem to lift it anymore but you need to. Ive listened to this many times normally when I’m at my most tired. I wake up, make my bed and silently to myself say ..” first task of the day done”. Thank you Sir
