It's hilarious how each of the guys' designs interpret "pretty" as pink, while the lone woman went with light blue. Love all the designs, just funny seeing the perspectives.

I think it's more because of the grace and elegance of her pokemon, blue used to be the "girl color" as pink is today because it's serene, and pink was a more masculine color because it's closer to red and hotter colors in general, it shows passion and strength and you can notice that in their designs as well which is really cool too

My english isn't that great, but if I remember it right "pretty" is similar to "beautiful" mostly used for females or babies. So the guys went for the female pink and the woman went for the typical baby boy light blue.

I think it is because attributed to Fairy Type. Let’s be real, majority of Fairy types are basically elegant and pretty, and because most of them have a pink color theme, that’s prbly whythey chose that color.

Its funny how nekokira is so close to tinkaton. immense prediction skills right there. Pink creature, oversized metal over the shoulder and fairy/steel typing.

And then he said “I’d love if there was a way to add a third typing” He totally nailed it!

That Neko line could totally be a starter. It reminded me of Delphox. In fact they could be related somehow since Delphox is more of a spell caster and Nekokira is more of a warrior type.

@@Aeternus75 well es but actually no similar concept to them one is a warrior and the other is a spell caster or princess with Gardevoir with that it seems more like the Gen six starter trio theme of default classes a mage a fighter and a rouge the Neko line could be a what if the Delphox line was the fighter instead of chestnaught

This is one of the most artistically satisfying things I've seen in a while. The designs are excellent, hearing the narratives & the artists' processes is very engaging, and the commentary is wonderfully insightful. Even my gamer/pokemon brain loves having the stats and descriptions. Everything is just right on and you all seem so lovely.

In terms of concept, I really liked that of the Nekokira line. In terms of design, the Sairanova hit a homerun. I really enjoyed this content. I'm hoping to see more from these artists. Y'all did an incredible job!

moxie’s really does look like an early pokemon design even with the colors, if you noticed, most gen 1 designs use 2-3 colors bc of gameboy hardware limitations

I think a good way to make Friend Aura work competitively could be "if any pokemon in the party are at 50% or less HP it increases attack"

All these feel like mythic/legendary Pokémon and I’m mclovin’ it ❤️ Edit: These girls could be the cast of a anime of a gang of protagonists growing into there roles as heroes, with each fitting a different protagonist trope/archetype and growing together through the power of friendship. I’d watch it.

Neko - Nekokira was amazing! I absolutely loved it. I can imagine Moxie in a nuzlocke with Nekokira and did basically what happened with Greg and basically have Nekokira as Greg 2.0

I love how in the first one when he tried it with the two hands holding the sword he was like "yea, nope, that's a dick. Scrap that idea."

That bear Pokémon is a really cool idea. Needing to learn discipline while possessing the confidence to train and take on any enemy is a very compelling and original personality. They should really make a DLC where you get to take a bear Pokémon through that journey…

But that would mean they have to put EFFORT into making the Pokemon games, and as we know putting your heart and soul into making Pokemon is wrong and hard to do.

When I think of "protector" the first thing that comes to mind is 'defence" so I was really surprised when I saw the first Pokemon with its lowest stat being DEF. But the 3rd and 4th Pokemons really fit well with what I had in mind. Good job everyone, they're all really great.

defense is more like "protection". Protector is more like a personality thing and it fits really well with the whole friendship abilities

Damn these were all top tier but Vergolophus' was the best for me. I'm EXTREMELY picky for what Pokémon I catch. Hers would be on my team in a heartbeat and I would build the team around it even.

Honestly same if they hold a sort of event where random artists can create their own Pokemon line with freedom of typing and background within certain regulations and boundaries not only are they reducing workload on their proper employees so they can focus on graphics and animation instead on brainstorming Pokemon and if will allow the community to become more connected with the game. The only problem would be payment to the many artists if it isn’t a volunteering event where they won’t get paid and they will have to rely on strangers to keep to the boundaries set and deadlines. Not to mention language blocks since game freak is mainly Japanese

Gen 3 is what happens when too many artists are involved. Not that that's inherently bad, but there is a higher chance for iffy designs.

It is kind of weird how Lucario is basically the only pokemon who utilises the pokemon universes version of life energy, it's cool to see another pokemon do it and also look strong as hell too. The final evolution gives me big Kill la Kill vibes although if I were to have this pokemon in a game I think I would give it gendered forms, maybe the male version would create a shield out of aura instead?

I like how the final forms could form a superhero team lol. Like imagine a Pokemon Dungeon anime, where it's a world of only Pokemon, and they're the superhero team that saves Pokemon all over. Overall, lovely designs!

I absolutely love how positive & supportive everyone is with each other! So wonderful to have a wholesome space to create and show each other with everyone being excited! (especially in the place of the internet where it's easy to be surrounded of toxicity) This was a joy to behold! Ty for sharing with us!

I keep thinking a one stage should be best for a villain Pokémon but I also think multistage that previews the final is also good

That would be a great 'part 2', and maybe another prompt could be a 'supporter' pokemon like a sidekick/healer/follower kind of deal using the protagonist/antagonist

The villain should Def have three stages like most final bosses in video games!

like stage one is a mediocre villan and stage two is when the joke villain gets serious and shows how much of a threat they are

Moxie is a man of culture, if you say “2 stage” to a TCG player they are going to assume you’re talking about a Pokémon with more than one evolutions; in the TCG it goes: Basic/stage1/stage2

Cometita and Sairanova are giving me HUGE Shaymin vibes… the fact that a small mythical Pokémon evolving into a larger - but not too much larger - form of itself.

Those rock formations remind me of Shara Ishvalda for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Maybe the design team had the same inspiration.

I enjoyed this waaaaaaaaaaay more than I thought I would. I want each artist to draw for Pokemon

I really like solidillo, I can imagine it still having the tail and the halberd as a testimonial to its battle prowess. The longer the time with the blade the more powerful a Pokémon

I really enjoyed hearing everyone's explanation of how they draw up their inspiration, and you can tell each person has their own unique way of creating a design. I think Pokemon in general should be in that direction so it flows because some Generations they looks so sloppy and rushed with a mixture of different design strategies. Especially, when a lot of the designs don't correlate with the region The Generation is discovered. Hopefully The Pokemon company will pay attention to how artist like all of you develop your own design language and will hire people that have the same vision. Each Generation does not have to be the same in design it has to flow with the region the Pokemon develop in, which is where finding the right Artistic style is important. Moxie's style of Pokemon seems very tough and medieval like that I would see those kind of Pokemon developing in a region that has close ties to The Renaissance Era such as with castles, fortresses kind of like Games of Thrones time period. Vergolophus I LOVED her futuristic approach and space with the stars and such kind of gives off The North Pole region especially with the presence of The Northern Lights. I could see her design language in Pokemon from space and even those that develop in cold harsh environments or in caves. Subjectively and Truegreen hit the nail right on the head going by nature and the environment and I can definitely see them creating many Pokemon that serve their purposes in a specific type of region. Well done all of you!

I started watching the series from episode 4 and went the other way around from there to this and I never expected to see the Cerro de los siete colores from Argentina, it was truly a nice surprise. Loved every single design I saw in all of the videos and I'm hoping to see more soon, thank you!

In my opinion, I think the bear one was much less main protagonist, and more motherly and even mysterious. For example, I could imagine someone getting a glance of them watching over the forest in the distance or just getting small looks at them throughout, only truly showing themselves in the final battle to defeat the overall threat.

I get competitive viability wasn't considered, but holy crap Nekokira is so freaking busted that it would make zacian look like a fair and balanced Pokemon.

It's just a better Zacian, there's no denying it. I mean it even has a move that acts as a Moxie/Beast Boost *on top* of being a 100 bp 100% move.

and it would be more readily available in contrast to a box art legendary where you get only 1 in 1 game and it might get egg moves too for even more strength

@@haydenford9587 AND it has the best defensive typing in the game AND it’ll probably get good coverage moves since it uses a sword (so all blade/sword moves are on the table) AND it’s pretty much guaranteed to get access to swords dance. Wayyy too op even for someone that would know nothing about competitive. But it is soul just for fun so I guess it’s fine idk

Of all the route 1 normal types to see, Buneary was always my favorite... I tend to change those normals for a fairy type later on... if Neko was in the game with Lopunny there would be no second thought. Straight to the PC to update team. Bye Lopunny, there is a new best girl.

I love how he gave Solidillo a move with a chance of flinching which makes the move stronger due to its ability, either great attention to detail or a hilarious oversight

Neko and it's evolutions are adorable and bold, and calling on the awesomeness of all the best magical girls. With Cometita, they kept saying Lucario, but I kept seeing mew and mewtwo, even the poses were reminiscent of them for me, and they are some of my favorite Pokémon. Wardursa just has such an amazing "you can't touch me" expression. The cuteness of Sedimini is just through the roof and I'm just imagining them curling into a ball going all out, bouncing around Flubber style.

Omg totally loved them!! Nekokira and Sairanova are top tier!! We need more feminine badass pokemon! Also i can see each and everyone of them in the pokemon anime, Wardursa looks like it could have its own movie, kinda like Zoroark or Lucario, Nekokira would also appear in a movie being the main pokemon for some badass cynthia style trainer evolving by saving everyone and Sairanova would be ash's main pokemon (pikachu aside of course) having a greninja kinda storyline where she saves the region or something. Moxie's idea of adding personality comes in my brain too, I made some drawings of what Sprigatito could become, its first evo was Sprigala, had a cuteness but also had a "alright if you come any closer you'll regret it" look, and the chest fur looked like a mane growing and also a opening flower bud, so in the 3rd one, Sprigallion, I made it have full-on petals as a mane, petals on its back, and (I think) petals on its tail, and Petals as claws, and it was much more of a lion than a cat which I literally could see the cute little kitten evolving into a ferocious yet epic green lion, but the names I chose feel awful, I might post all this on smth else too, they all look cool!

All designs are sooooooo good! I wish i could have them in the actual games ;_; (and I love cats, so the neko line definitely hits me) I especially love the development of wardursa. Where it starts as some grumpy, big bear and morph its way into a royal looking mother bear, that could guard a whole forest.

I would love for this to be your next big series. Seeing everyones reference and thought process was a delightful time.

I'd love to see another one like this, but also I loved the middle evolution of the first one. Would love to see a 3 step evolution in the next one!

at the end all the characters look like a group of heroes travelling together. I really enjoyed this collab, everyone and their feedback to each others designs was very insightful.

I've also had the idea to make a pink fairy armadillo Pokemon, so I'm glad you were able to make something out of that concept, even if we had different ideas for what to add onto that base.

The first one is undoubtably the cutest and best that if it existed it would go on my main team without a thought.
