One thing to note about the tombs at 11:20 is that the "twinsage" was technically two people, so it might not make sense that they receive one tomb dedicated to them. Still, interesting that there are 7 tombs..but of all the things in this video, I think this one might be overthinking it a little 😅

Miquella being Torrent's owner actually makes so much sense. With speculation about Melina being sister to the Empyrean twins, Miquella would sensibly pass Torrent down to their sister while they slumbered, perhaps knowing her plans to give him to a worthy tarnished. Does that mean when Ranni refers to Torrent's previous owner entrusting the spirit calling bell to you, is that actually Miquella, not Melina like we (or at least I) had assumed? Very interesting.
Vor 2 Monate@AssailantLF +1
Also worth noting that the only enemies in the game (besides spirit caller snails) who summon spirits are Commanders Niall & O'Neil who follow Miquella & Malenia. Also multiple spirit caller snails are found at the Haligtree. It seems very possible that Miquella was learning about manipulating/summoning spirits in order to help revive (or fully kill) Godwyn and fix TWLiD, and to speculate further, his alter-personality St Trina is someone who wanders the world of dreams/spirits in order to interact with them directly.

Box jellyfish is the scariest jellyfish.
Vor 2 Monate@jonashopper4113 +25
many jellies have structures called rhopalia that are essentially primitive eyes. They're sensitive to light and allow them to find their way around. This is almost certainly what the devs were going for with the yellow-eye effect

Regarding the golden eye effect, it can actually appear on the ulcerated tree spirits, and it's quite interesting cause they get an uneven amount of eyes on each side of the head, and even some on their body. Vor 2 Monate@TheREALTheRealAdam
I think you're half right with the Great Rune item aura. I don't think they were in the overworld, but were instead physically dropped by the bosses (not unlike Heart Containers in Zelda). These were just a beacon to say "HEY, DON'T FORGET TO PICK THIS UP." Which was eventually replaced with just dropping them directly into your inventory, since in a weird way trying to be more immersive probably made it feel more video gamey.

I don't know how many people watched Ziostorm's video about the Minor Erdtree Church next to what is potentially Melina's grave, but the implications would be fascinating. The reason I say that is because that Church was likely a sort of lab experiment for Golden Order Fundalmentalism by Miquella so having Melina's grave by there would be interesting. No one seems to know about the existence of Melina save for Torrent, who potentially has connections to both Ranni and Miquella as well.
Vor 2 Monate@SolaireIntensifies
That craftsmen one legit made my jaw drop and I got goosebumps. I thought it was a little absurd at first but there are just too many connections to be overly skeptical about it. The mic drop for Torrent's whistle is what really gave me chills. Just like Melina being the third daughter of Marika, Miquella being the previous owner of Torrent and creator of the whistle is now permanent headcanon unless the dlc says otherwise.

With the Estus flask in Elden Ring. It brings me to those theories of each ER ending leading to the beginning of each Soulsborne. If so then possibly the Estus used in ER could be empty, used as perfumes until the Frenzied Flame ending goes into the Age Of Fire. Where the First Flame is discovered by Gwyn in DS, allowing us to heal from the flame itself 🤔

Gotta love seeing a new vid from Vaati. I recently started a new playthrough, this time going for a (battle)mage build. First run was with melee only, so it feels like a whole new game now 😅

The big item marker may have been intended to be used for something as simple as quest items, like the medallion halves you need to access the great lift to Altus, just to make them very easily visible
Vor 2 Monate@paralam2175 +1
The Gilded Greatshield in Elden Ring says that the "red tinge in the gold coat mirrors the primordial matter that became the Erdtree", most likely the Crucible, so this unsued, orange item aura might be related to that. Along with the Rune items that turn orange with the amount of runes they give you. The Lamplight, the equivalent to Grace in Helphen, is red/orange. There's plenty of connections to be made here.
Vor 2 Monate@paralam2175
Also those runes shown in this cut, rarest item aura are similar to those on Malenia's sword.
Vor 2 Monate@SevenMinuteNutter +3
Don't know if it might've been mentioned, but in regards to the Red Eyes (of Sorcery) per Elden Ring tied to Frenzy Eyes, this actually showed up in Dark Souls 3 (and 2 to a lesser degree.) Its often overlooked, but if you recall more powerful versions of enemies within Dark Souls 3 (in particular the blue-clothed knight outside Dancer Boss comes to mind) sported Red Eyes as a sign of their stronger power. An earlier iteration of a reference to Sorcery from Miyazaki perhaps that went unnoticed.
Vor 2 Monate@voltagex664
I think the item aura truthfully would’ve been for map pieces of the world I think it makes a lot of sense making maps super noticeable truthfully for 40% of my first play through I didn’t have any maps lmao
Vor Monat@SleepyMedia
Vibes-based theory: The cut item affect was related to patches, and the vibrancy and ability to see the item from far around is a cut trap by patches to lure tarnished.

Great video, as always! Can't wait for your breakdown of Shadow of the Erdtree! I have a feeling it's going to be a treasure trove of lore to comb through.

Red-tinged gold symbolizes the crucible, the primordial form of the Erdtree. Fitting that this fifth item glitter-gleam was held in high esteem and is now cast aside.

If Miquella were to be Torrents owner, there are two mysteries left. How did Malenia get Torrent and why does Ranni mention Torrents Former owner as she gives us the whistle?

I put in 1500 hours thinking id found everything then vaati just comes along "yeah theres an illusory wall as soon as you get into raya lucaria"
Vor 2 Monate@SansMain +1
I think that that red glowing item pickup could have been used for Remembrances after you beat a boss, kinda like how in Zelda games you have to separately pick up the heart containers after you beat a boss, not to mention that remembrances are “hewn into the Erdtree.”
Vor 2 Monate@guilhermeosti9526
I believe Melina is Marika herself, not her daughter, but kinda like she's an reincarnation. Like she is trying to get rid of Radagon, her other half and opose the greater will. And it's curious that the Frenzied Flame ending is the only one that she active advises the player not to do, as it goes against her plans
Vor Monat@RyujiRoyalSkull
I think instead of finding the great runes in the overworld that unused item drop effect would have been what the great runes looked like when you got to them in the same spots. I think they later figured it'd be more impactful to give each rune a unique design before you pick them up.
Vor 2 Monate@drawkcaBForward
IMO the orange item effect was intended for the Mending Runes. I did think it was strange that they're the only items you can pick up that aren't represented by a glowing ball.
Vor 2 Monate@gabrielcastro5393
Something i think no one noticed, the trolls in front of old altus tunnel are different in the release version, they wear a cape like the frenzied ones They don't attack or get up and die in one hit

I can't believe I never knew about that invisible wall at Raya Lucaria... after over 900hrs... still learning new things about this game.

I noticed a little detail no one seems to be talking about... When we defeat Morgott, his body turns into dark drained corpse. Which looks a lot like what we se at his brother's palace - Miquella in his cocoon. I have some theories about it which are not really strong, but you might consider it.
Vor 10 Tage@coppermustache5677
I have always been wondering whats up with elden rings focus on false names. Ranni introduces herself as Renna when you first meet her, just like Morgot calling himself Margit and Rya whose true name is Zoraya. Then there is also the abundance of alter egos like Godfrey and Hora Loux, Miquella and St. Trina, Guranque and Maliketh or most prominently Marika and Radagon. I feel like this should have some deeper meaning but Im terrible at interpreting these kinds of things.
Vor 2 Monate@setsunaes
I always believed that when "Renna" talks about Torrent's former master she's talking about Miquella, and also that he's the one who crafted the spirit calling bell.
Vor 2 Monate@necroxander
@vaatividya Been a fan of yours for a minute and I’ve always wanted to ask: what do you think of all of the bells present throughout Dark Souls, Elden Ring and especially Bloodborne (there are so many in the world, on lamps, clothing, everywhere) might represent? Symbolically, from a lore perspective, from Miyazaki’s tastes… anything? Thank you. The work you do yourself and with your collaborators is both inspiring and incredible.

The game still feels like Dark Souls. It's the reason why i play it, even the story ark just seems like it's an alternate same story. I just love the how the weapons can be welded left or right hand and 2 handed if strength is lacking. Wish Conan exiles plays like this.

Sorcery! was a series of four books written by Steve Jackson, who I want to say invented the Fighting Fantasy series of books from the 80’s. I had the Sorcery! series when I was a kid in the 80,s, lost the books at some point, then was very happy to find them again on Amazon a few years ago. Amazing series of books.

It’s likely the unused item aura was originally used for a quest item like the knife that Ranni need for her quest line but it’s possible that most likely use this unused item aura in DLC when it comes out.🤔🐱

I think I found a hidden passage that went from debate parlor in castle Liurnia, down to grand cloister but is clogged up by those rot barnicle things. If you look from debate parlor, there is a square stone area with candles on it. The map, if you stand on the spot that looks like the center of the lift, is overlapping right over the spot clogged by rot, and theres depictions on the walls down there with people with staffs. I could be wrong but counting the picture of 2 sages as 2, the amount of sages in the pictures in debate parlor match the stone engraving's amount of sages. Which is 8, I think. And there are purple crystals around that lift that look like they came from the bigger one on the ceiling of the lake of rot. The only reason I noticed this is because the skeletal remains in debate parlor don't make sense for there being a rabid orange dog going nuts, instead there's only a few piles of bones near that square stone, that happens to look like a lift that goes down to the grand cloister. It might just be a reference or perhaps something similar is going, but those ruins that use contraptions to raise other structures from out of the rot reminds me so much of the sunken city dlc from dark souls 2. I honestly forget exactly how it goes, but I think a poisonous dragon got awakened by knights seeking dragon blood, in an ancient city deep underground that was already in ruin, but had sturdy structures that kept well over time.

Vatti should get games months early to start lore videos when the game releases...so players could get to a certain point in-game and watch a video explaining exactly what happened and the meaning of everything up to that point. Repeat for the next milestone.

for the Miquella craftsman section- I think its highly likely miquella also created the golden tailor tools, because when you examine them, you can see miquella's style of delicate goldwork, and the needles shown in the kit's art look very similar to the unalloyed gold needles as well.

There is another rarity item drop, it is white on the bottom and a dark blue near the top, it is only on the dark moon great-sword Enemy’s that can have the glow eyes are the tree spirits, only the one found in miquilla’s haligtree can have this effect because it is not a boss just a regular enemy

considering the red tint of the special item it may have been collecting fragments of the rune of death from some earlier version of garangs quest before it switched to deathroot

4:02 Maybe you could have found Ranni's and Miquella's great runes in the overworld. Miquella's would be behind Mogh's boss room, and Ranni's would be by the moonlight alter or with the moonlight greatsword.
Vor 2 Monate@mohanmc1681
About item aura: it reminds of Three Fingers and Frenzied Flame. My guess there was a greater emphasis on this questline during development, as a second main ending (and Ranni’s being the 3rd one -yellow-orange-blue-). Such things as Vyke spear and Shabriri Eyes and even frenzy spells/talismans/armor would have this aura Second guess: erdtree tears for physics flask, because such tall aura meant to be seen afar, alike “markers” in Zelda or Ubisoft games Third guess: after burning Erdtree the world meant to be updated with new items, maybe “burned erdtree stick”
