The old lady as an actor killed it, she played her parts flawlessly and out of all the other patient actors, felt truly genuine.

There were two old ladies. Which one? The one having an affair, or the later one with her son in tow?

Hugh Laurie has mastered this role perfectly. House M.D. is a masterpiece of sarcasm, humor, and medical intrigue.

The good doctor never fails to impress us.

He was strictly comedy actor before this, and after, he had earned enough money to be a blues singer/songwriter. There is nothing in his whole CV to suggest he would be a brilliant drama medical show actor. Yet he was.

I often forget he has a british accent in real life.

Same vibe given to me. Also, thinking about her story made me a bit sad. We all get to the point where, let's face it, we ain't on the market anymore, if you know what I mean. You don't need the world to tell you this. You close "the business" all by yourself. Well, she suddenly got a fresh new space to lay her goods on from destiny. That really feels wholesome to see. Also, please don't cringe at the eufemism.

Actually, Tertiary syphilis is incurable. Thats when its gotten into the brain. She'll experience syphilitic insanity and have to be committed. That son of hers ought to get tested for hereditary syphilis as she probably passed down to him as he was born. Eventually her brain'll get totally fried and she'll die. Not a great way to go, either.

These are basically Gregory House's slice of life skits. Call me crazy, but these were the best parts of the entire show.

Yeah this back and forth with the "main" patient gets on my nerves sooner or later. They used some tropes to break this up, but it's the main schtick afterall.

I remember my baby brother as a young child was goofing off after a bath and tore his testicle open. He didn’t cry, and fell asleep in the ambulance . I do recalls both the paramedics wincing and my Ma talking about it in the waiting room and all the grown men cross their legs 😹 poor thing. He doesn’t remember though thankfully.

I remember loving the episodes with the teenage girl, Ali, when they first came out. She appeared over a couple episodes indicating how long her stalking behavior was going on for. I just really liked that while House was flattered and didn't want to get her in trouble, he also didn't take advantage. This skipped the scene where he finally tells her he's not interested and she has a fungal infection that's lowering her inhibitions (though it's unclear if she really did have a fungal infection or not).

I think she did, he diagnosed her because she had milky tears which were indicative of the fungal infection

For years people kept telling me to watch this show but I was always too busy working. Then COVID happened. I watched the 1st episode, followed by all 175 for the next 3 weeks. Yep, about 8 a day. Binged the whole thing back to back. Best show EVER.

High Laurie is a brilliant actor. He did a particularly great job in this serial. I've watched the reruns over and over again, but I'm always amused and never bored.

This was one of the greatest shows on television. Dark, funny and emotional. Hugh Laurie was the perfect actor to play House!

I could easily watch a whole spin off show just about the clinic. Same writers, same cast it would be awesome

Well, maybe not a comeback. But they should have done one short follow-up. Cut to a hospital room. Thirteen is wracked with involuntary spasms from her Huntington's which has now a complete hold on her. The doctor is telling her that unfortunately the experimental treatment she was on is showing no signs of improvement. There's nothing more they can do for her other than making her as comfortable as possible and simply wait for the end. The full realisation of this hits her. There is no one and nothing to help her. She begs him to help her. He says there's nothing he can do. She tells him there is one thing he could do. She doesn't say it outright, but you can see on his face that he knows what she means. He considers it, but no. He cannot. It's his duty of care. He couldn't possibly do such a thing. He reiterates that they'll take good care of her, make her life more comfortable, and storms out of the room. Thirteen is left alone to contemplate the infinitely short time she still has to live. It's night now. Rain is falling, driving rivers of water on the windows to match the dried up tears on Thirteen's face. As she's looking out the window, she hears the door to her ward slide open. It's probably a nurse, here to make sure the pain can be extended for as long as possible. All we see is two feet wearing sports shoes with cheesy heel shock absorbers, along with a flaming cane stepping into the room. A voice says: "Is it time?" Thirteen turns around, eyes wide, brimming with tears again. As she breaks down she can say only one thing: "Yes. It's time." Fade to black.

Just imagine a House prequel series when he's in med school

Something I always like about House is his curiosity and delight about his fellow weirdos.

The nutritionist and House have such great chemistry! We never see her after this episode, wish they took that relationship further

Having seen this show during its run as a kid I couldn’t truly appreciate it. This show is comedy gold and Hugh Laurie is an absolute legend. Couldn’t have cast a better actor. I’m going to have to find this show in its entirety one day, maybe on DVD or Blu-ray.

Laurie has been a tremendous positive force as a producer since House gave him influence. He picks the best and nourishes potential. It was also fun to watch him have fun. I went back to school in my 40's and took some courses, Human Physiology, Biological Psychology, Microbes and Society, and Psychological Pharmacology because of this show and Saving Hope. Humor slides close to peak behind the surrealism curtain, which is fundamental to the human experience, and Hugh Laurie is the center of that universe.

I’ve watched every episode so many times and I still enjoy these compilation videos. I like to believe Wilson actually got better and he and House do private practice under assumed identities now.

I completely missed the show when it was new but I'm binge watching every episode on prime now. What a great show in every way. I'm on season 6 now.

Loved it when they had Carmen Electra made a guest appearance as an one of House’s imaginary patients. Loved House’s rationale for doing so!

I always enjoyed watching this series. It had one of the best endings a series could have.

This really was the ace of shows! He was born for this and the funny thing is, when I was going through my rotations as an intern I met some pretty amazing witty hilarious Drs just like house. While learning how to be the best as also taught very valuable lessons in humanity and working with different people

As wild as the scenarios in this show seem, any real world clinician will attest to its accuracy when it comes to its nuance. Just ask any doctor or nurse about their craziest patient stories and you’ll understand where I’m coming from.

The first one, house actually started having fun with as it was the only clinic one that had enough twists to almost be an actual case. I have a feeling that's why he gave her that hint at the end.

I quite like the first appointment. For some reason House seems more realistically brilliant in it than some of the others. Putting together the picture after they present themselves while being his usual sarcastic self, but still relatively friendly and helpful.

The old lady with syphilis beats them all. Loved this show! I watched season 1 for like hundreds of times, and I watched the other seasons a lot too!

Hue Laurie should reprise his part as House, dammit. I've watched the series through over and over at least 15-20 times already.

The woman actress played a very difficult roll and did with such a beautiful and non-offensive style. It was nice to see this show as to be diagnosed with "doomed to live a happy life" forever was to me one of the greatest lines written ever. Thank you.

The writers for this show must have known that they could push the boundary's and Hugh Laurie would be able to pull it off . The other actors are great , and their performances are excellent . They must have broken up a few times ; it's got to be hard to say those lines and keep a straight face .

The Main Cases were interesting but honestly House's whole show could've been doing Clinic Duty & it still would've been a great show.

House in the clinic are some of the best times on television.

House seems to attract people who are either much older or younger than him.

In the case of the 17 year old girl, she had a rare fungus infection in her brain that caused her to behave like that. They didn't show the resolution here.

i knew nothing of this actor, prior to his role on House.... i cant THINK of "House M.D." and not have him in mind.. he IS that Dr.. he IS that role... irreplaceable.. spot on timing, remarkable chemistry with a huge cast.. one of the all time best shows, imho, on tv.. of any genre...
