Ex wendys employee here. A great trick is to use the coupons. They have often times coupons that say "free ___ with any purchase" These purchases can be anything and if you load the coupon to scan on the app and ask for a Jr key tag, and purchase ONLY a Jr frosty (some locations sell them for only 29 cents), you can end up walking away with 2 frosties plus a baconator fries, nuggets, or sometimes a burger for 31 cents after tax.

That's far too much work lol

Nice! I’ve been doing the Chipotle one for years. Extra tips: When getting rice and beans I ask for extra, which I usually follow up with a couple “more please” and “another scoop please”. Once they’ve piled the bowl to the brim I have them put as much corn as they can, filling in all the cracks and I also ask for corn in a side cup which is free. I also ask for 3 crunchy taco shells on the side which is the same price as one large tortilla because I like having the variety. 👍🏼

So I work at my local Culver’s (usually in the kitchen) and I can completely vouch that the kids cheese burger is literally the exact same thing as a normal single butter burger, absolutely no size difference but it won’t come with a regular fry it will come with a small fry, but the their is maybe 4-7 more fry piece difference from the small and regular fries

I don’t eat a lot of fries and end up tossing the extra fries, so this hack is great.

In the pic it was a double cheese burger, the kids meal is a single burger

At Raising Cane's, my girlfriend and I order the Caniac combo (6 strips) and substitute the coleslaw with extra fries. It comes with a large drink so we are able to share this one combo for under $10.

Wow! The caniac combo is $16 and some change over here. Just got one tonight to share with my daughter. Even sharing...it is still expensive!

Canes has gotten so cheap with the amount of fries they give in general with very little "extra" when you substitute for them.

My favorite Starbucks hack is ordering an iced espresso (not the shaken). I order 4 shots in a venti cup with extra ice and extra nonfat milk. Most baristas will fill the milk all the way to the top. The total cost is $3.25 +tax. If I order an iced venti quad nonfat latte it will cost $5.65 +tax. Exact same ingredients just named something entirely different.

Also, when you order the ice cream cup in place of the toy at Chick-fil-A ask for cookie crumbles on top…that’s a McFlurry-ish treat with no added co💲t

I mix my leftover sauces to make meatloaf sauce. A little taco bell hot sauce, a couple random ketchup packets, some barbecue sauce... whatever. Nobody has ever figured it out and my meatloaf remains loved.

These tips are great. I like having a lunch box 12V oven in my truck. It helps to warm food or to keep it warm. Melts cheese and toasts. At 300 degrees it finishes cooking meat or veggies which comes in handy not only for cooking food on the go but to finish cooking a hotdog or other meat that may have not been cooked thoroughly. The lunch box ovens are sold on the internet as well as some truck stops. Aluminum foil and pans are items helpful to use with the appliance.

I actually threw away my 12 bolt oven in my truck. The reason was simple. I tested it before I used it in the truck and it turns out that thing was sucking way too much juice out of my battery. If you got two batteries in your car truck then you might be okay. Or if you have some solar panels on the top of your vehicle then you might be okay. But I don't have any of those things in my Tahoe so I ended up getting rid of that stupid 12 volt oven.

I love M&M McFlurries. I am going to do this sundae trick because the fudge will make it even better and my local McDonald's has been out of the spoons they need to stir the McFlurries with, so I've been having to mix it myself when I get home anyway. Also, they've been out of the small cups, so I've been getting the bigger size, but I would be just as happy to have this smaller sundae size. I don't need the bigger one!

I've worked Food service most of my adult life: waitress & bartender. I will always look for a way to save my customers money, especially families with kids & elderly. Each restaurant has "hacks" that will save you money & most employees always know what to order to save a buck...so be nice to your server no matter if a 5* restaurant or a fast trip to McDonald's! But remember its not a hack if your server is spending extra ten minutes deconstructing your meals. These are great tips!

My GF and I did the Chipotle hack for lunch today. We ordered thru the app. You can ask for extra rice, beans, cheese, salsa and lettuce to really pack it up for no extra charge. I put half of the bowl on the wrap fora burrito and my GF ate the rest of the bowl, it was awesome. Thank you Deal Guy 👍

That's how it's been for as long as I've known chipotle. Everything extra that isn't protein or guac is free.

When I worked at McDonald's we referred to giving hearty scoops of fries or extra nuggets as "Blessing people." We'd either just do it normally or give them to nicer customers.

I get the kids meal all the time at Culver’s. I even finally convinced my friend to buy it. The smaller drink is no big deal if you dine in, can refill multiple times if you want. If you look at their prices ala carte, you really realize what a deal it is. The burger alone is $3 if purchased separately. And if you save the other tokens from the bag, every 10 kids meals you get a free one. Another great reason to get it.

A McDonald's local to me charged me 60 cents to substitute Big Mac sauce (a/k/a Thousand Island salad dressing) instead of mayo on a McChicken, and they also proceeded to omit the lettuce. I think they put an 8th of a teaspoon of sauce on the chicken. I only saw 3 pickle bits. It was dry & disappointing. I bought a bottle of Thousand Island dressing from dollar tree and it's in my fridge in a baggie waiting to be tossed into an insulated lunch sak for my next chicken sammie which I will get at Burger King.! ☺

To save the .50 on the tortillas you could just keep a pack at home. It's so easy to replace half of this stuff at home and you'll get more for your money. Just making this stuff at home in general saves you money if you normally just eat it at home anyways.

For Chick-Fil-A, the buns are toasted in advance and the cheese is cold for obvious reasons. If you tried a "grilled cheese" again, I'd recommend asking for a double toasted bun so it's warm instead of room temperature. Not immediately opening the foil bag will let the heat from the warm things melt the cheese.

Wow, I didnt know any restaurants pre- toast buns. You'd think they'd dry out or even become soggy prior to being used up. I've worked in food service for 20+ years & I find that interesting (we don't have ChikFila in WA state).

I will pay extra to have my bun grilled any day of the week… To me nothing is worse than a soggy bun!!!!

Another hack at Raising Cane's is that you can swap out coleslaw (a lesser food item) for an extra Texas toast (superior food item). I take advantage of it literally every time I visit the restaurant.

A Starbucks hack I was told years ago: My friend once told me to order two grande size cups, the ice separately from the coffee if you want it iced. So like one cup with coffee and the other with ice. It's cheaper since Starbucks does not charge ice or water and usually when you order an iced drink, the cup is mostly ice rather than your drink so just make sure to mix them up in a bigger container and you have pretty much a vendi size iced drink but for less the prize.

Free milk of choice too.

Thank you for being kind to the workers and Pleasedrive close to the window when confirming and paying for your order and at the pick up window....it's cold while you are checking your pockets and looking into you bag to be sure it is your order!! Decades ago, a Quarter Pounder without cheese was my staple lunch item while at Uni. A few years after that, only the Quarter Pounder with Cheese was on the posted menu, which meant I always had to pay more money for my Sandwich - no discount given for ordering without cheese. After 30+ years of this, I placed my order one day and the cashier said, " Oh wait, I just saw that button somewhere." And she found it - and it charged me less money. Thieves all those years!

That last tip about the cards made me think of retailers that advertise gift cards of a certain dollar amount allowing you to get an in-store gift card of $5-$10. It's not all the time but usually around holidays especially November and December. Walgreens does it... who doesn't love free money?!

When I used to work at McDonald’s I realized that u can get basically a quarter pounder for cheaper then normal price. U can buy a cheese burger but substitute the patty for a 4/1 patty which is what quarter pounder is. U don’t get the sesame seas bun or slivered onions. Instead u get a regular bun(mchicken/cheeseburger bun) and diced onions. However it is a slightly better pricey

My family and myself are crazy about the Chick Fill A lemonade but all the time, we always craving for more, specially for the crazy amount of ice they put on it. A family friend told us to buy the gallon and trust me it was totally worthy. Tyfs Matt these awesome hacks! 👍

You also have the option to ask for no ice on drinks, since Lemonade is kept cold & I've never had a warm Lemonade. By the gallon is awesome too 😎

To add to the chipotle one, a big hack came out a while back that I've used ever since and I can confirm it makes a huge difference. You order half and half on everything , rice, beans, meat, and then load it with whatever toppings you want. When they give you half scoop it's usually more like 3/4. So you end up with at least 50% more. AND if you ask for a side tortilla when you pickup your food instead of ordering it in the app, you get it fresh, instead of the balled up 20 minute old one they give you if you order it in the app. AND it's free. You pay for the meal you ordered on the app, and you say "Hey, I forgot, could I get 2 side tortillas?" and they'll just give it to you, instead of bothering to get the 50 cents.

Or you could just have some integrity and not be deceptive over 50 cents. If the company offers deals that allow hacks like in the video, then everyone is in their right to take advantage of the hacks, but when you lie to try to save 50 cents, then it's no longer cool.

I worked at a McD's many years ago. I was assigned to fry duty one day, and the manager commenced to chew me out for putting too many fries in the containers. She then 'trained' me to hold the carton (med or Lg) squished with my thumb on the M logo, and the rest of my fingers flat against the back of the carton (kinda like you are making a duck beak with your hand 🤏 for shadow puppets) and keep my hand ridged and shake in some fries that will only fill the now squished opening. I said that is not really fair, as the customer is not really getting many fries to begin with, or more with the different sizes. I was told to shut up and do as I was told...OK then... If you go through the drive through at the food window, you can ask for sauces and they will not charge you, but that may vary as each McD's is a franchise and they don't have to follow the rules across the board equally, it is up to their discression. Jesus Chicken, you can ask at the window for a side of cheese and they will give it to you free for dipping your waffle fries.

For the quizes on the bottom of the receipt, Dunkin Donuts is my favorite, you get a free donut with any purchase or any coffee (can't remember which). I go to DD every few days for coffee/breakfast, and the coupon lasts for a few days, so I basically get a free donut every other visit.

I used to work at a McDonald's, you can ask for hot fudge to be mixed into a Mcflurry to get chocolate ice cream. Anything that you can get on anything can be added to something or bought 😊

Awesome stuff. I usually make my own eggs to go with a susage mcmuffin. Idk why their eggs are the price of gold. When I go on vacations I bring my water filter pitcher with me so I can stand drinking the hotel water and not paying for bottled water. When I go to the bar, I ask for a pint glass with a shot of well vodka filled with ice and 70 percent water. I then buy a can of redbull seperately and add it for each drink. The redbull can, can last a good amount of drinks and my tab is usually not too high, which I tip better because of. Thanks for these videos.

When I was younger Mc Donald used to allow birthday parties with a cake included for a cheap price, it depends on who many guests were invited. I don't know if they advertise birthday parties anymore at their restaurants.🤷🏾‍♀️

One of my favorite hacks at chipotle is to wait until they scoop my meat onto my plate, then politely ask for double meat. This way, they already showed me how much the first scoop was, and have to do it again for the second scoop. I get much more meat now then when I would just ask for a double serving at the start

For your CFA question on the Red Flag, no, you're not on some type of watch list. The Red Flag is a button we press to place options on food items not regularly on the menu. For example, if you wanted chocolate on your ice cream cup (which isn't seen on the menu) you could Red Flag the ice cream cup and add chocolate on it. No one's gonna put you on a hit-list for asking for an extraneous item. We got you!

I also work at cfa and genuinely hate people. I can act like I love yall, but deep down I'd rather gut you then have a 30 second conversation....

@Dena Sharpe Management doesn’t always treat employees with respect. It really depends on how much the operator is involved. Management tends to reflect that. My first operator was amazing, genuine and kind. Made a huge difference. Second operator was full of it and management was horrible. The store went down in flames after that.

@Debbie Sneed Sometimes it’s an act. Depends on the person– but they tend to hire genuine people. People that aren’t, don’t last that long. Huge turn over rate where I worked.

Here's my hack for McDonald's. I drove through and, when I had an issue, both the window person and "manager" treated me like dirt. I phoned the GM the next day. A week later I returned and ordered $30+ of food, filled by the GM, and on the house. ALWAYS complain when you are not treated fairly or your order is not right. It is the goddamn American way.

I think this depends on where you are. At McDonald's in Australia, adding fudge and M&M's to a sundae actually comes up to a very similar price, very much depends on what specials are up. Also meals do cost less than everything separate- havent finished the video but this is so common! I used to combine items into meals so as to reduce the price, it is real trust mee Edit: The fry sizes are different! Very very different but it is so easy to over fill smalls. Generally frowned upon though. Also you can just ask for a sauce after you order and it's free :)

The Chipotle "hack" I have been doing for years. When I found out you could get tortillas on the side, I started getting 2 like you did. At one place, I would get 3. I work at Raising Canes and something i alway vouche for is, get to get any combo with a water cup... they hardly ever have one , so they end up giving you a 20 ounce cup. If you want lemonade cheaper, just get that same cup and ask for a lemonade refill. Only costs a dollar, saving you a lil bit on the side

Taco bell at one point changed their menu making it so Quesaritos can only be ordered online. Not sure if this is still happening, but if you run into this issue, order a Beefy 5 Layer Burrito, substitute beans for rice, add chipotle sauce and have it toasted. Having anything toasted is free and depending on whether theyll substitute the beans for rice instead of removing beans and adding rice, you should only be paying extra for the chipotle sauce. I believe its also cheaper! Former Taco Bell employee here, I've messed around a lot with trying to make stuff cheaper

I always give my kids those fast food gift cards from Sam’s club in their stockings for Christmas. They love them.

i used to work at a chick-fil-a, and fun fact about the grilled cheese thing, Some places actually have that as a secret menu item in the extra portion of their operating system, mine did. they even had white and wheat options with only a 10 cent price difference and my store had the ability to properly cook them, they literally just flattened them on the grill till the cheese melted. Also the red flag thing isn't a warning or list of any sorts, its put there to grab the attention of the employs on the inside. We used them for things such as allergy notices or trying to accommodate special changes that weren't directly on our ordering operating system, such as gift cards, which cant be wrung up outside sometimes, or if they wanted extra empty boxes/salad containers/drink cups to split with family members.

When I worked at McDonald’s we were taught to NOT pop the bottom of the fry boxes in. I thought that was so shady of our store. Idk if that’s a chain wide thing, or just our stores in Louisiana area.

Jimmy John's has day old buns for a crazy good price. I think it's 25 or 50 cents each. We love that deal when traveling! Easy to whip together a quick pb&j while traveling frugally.

Thank you for the hacks but the frosty I’ll have to pass. I ate half a frosty & was projectile vomiting for 13 hours at the ER. The doctor gave me everything he could think of & it wouldn’t stop, on either end. I was given 18 bags of IV fluids for days to rehydrate me. The frosty was tested & had salmonella. Never, ever will I eat another one as long as I live. 🤢

This is why I rarely eat out. Workers are paid starvation wages and often very stressed. There's a high turnover of employees so they're often short handed. They probably didn't have time to properly clean the machines. It doesn't matter if the company has a lot of rules to follow if employees are over-worked and underpaid.

MOD Pizza, or any pizza place has this “hack.” If you’re interested in just a cheese pizza, instead get cheesy bread with as much cheese as they’ll allow. For about the same price as ONE pizza, you can get two cheese breadsticks.

With Starbucks you can order a venti frappachino and have them split it into two cups (I used to work there a few years ago) We had a regular who would order one venti and split it into two grande cups with extra whip for their kids No additional costs

as someone who has tested the fries thing at mcdonald's numerous times over the years, they are not close to equal. the amount you got there for the small is almost twice the amount that one would normally get for a small. the person that filled your order just put way too much in the small. the medium is correct amount though.

Dude my mcds is so skimpy with their fries especially when you use their weekly $1 large fries coupon. It's like they have a batch ready just for those customers to give them half filled boxes of old twice fried crunchy ass fries 🤢

Right! I think he just got hella lucky. Last time I went to McDonalds and ordered small fries, the bag was like half full (and it's a pretty small bag to begin with) and most of them were the tiny little crispy ones that I can't really chew well, AND they were entirely stale. I was starving and ate them anyways of course but was sooo disappointed. Haven't been back since and that was months ago.

@orchNEStra I work at McDonalds, and yes, it is extremely inconsistent. We're barely trained for preciseness. We have 0 time to double check how many fries we put into the fry boxes/bags. Sometimes, a stuffed small fries may come even more than a loose medium fry. or your small fry may have barely anything, and the medium fry ends up being stuffed. My issue with "McDonalds life hacks" are that they're extraordinarily inconsistent due to being franchised-owned. The Sausage and Egg McMuffin tip in this video... At our store, you'd be wasting like $3 if you did this.

Honestly, the amount of fries you get is a crap shoot regardless of the size you order. The only consistency is it's completely inconsistent.

I have a hack for McDonald’s. And it’s kind of big. I’ve been working there for a very long time, four years in fact, and I’ve noticed something peculiar… The quarter pounder is around 5 dollars, a bit expensive I would say, and I’ve noticed that if you order the quarter patty BY IT SELF, (also known as A la carte) is 1.49. You are paying 3.50 for a bun, lettuce, cheese, and other condiments… It’s way worth it if you buy buns at the store. Give it a try!

@Jason Tokio we're lucky we have both in our area and have a huge discount to sign up for Sam's Club with a gift card back. It has more than paid for itself. That said, Costco is a better overall experience in our area.
