As a person who’s been dealing with suicidal thoughts for months, I burst into tears hearing Staffan talking about his friend. I’m a young woman living in Iran. The thing is, every time I reflect what I’ve done and what I can do, I come to a barrier. I used to have hope, but over time due to the situation in my country I lost my friends because of immigration, because they couldn’t see any future in this country; due to the economical situation which is getting worse day by day, I lost hope of having any future. I’m only fighting to survive, no matter how hard I work, I won’t be able to have the leasts I can expect from a normal life. Everyday I hear bad news, every single day… I can’t get out of the country due to family and financial issues… I feel stuck and helpless… I don’t even know if I’m allowed to write this here, I just felt like i have to…

I don't really know what to say to you as I could never understand the situation you're living through. But know that there is someone out there who thinks of you and has hope for you and your people. Stay strong!

I had several meltdowns which led to staff beatings daily for two weeks until it was confirmed I have Asperger's. Finally released after it was found that I committed no crime. Later diagnosed with MDD, SAD, and PTSD. Worst experience of my life.

here's my own experience of what staffan was talking about. I think it all began when pandemic first came in to our country, which really changed me who i am now. i started to think more about myself, it turned into self-awareness and then into insecurities. i broke up with my girlfriend who i was with for almost 1 year and a half for personal reasons, and around the same time, my father died, because of cancer. i had problems with my friend, school, with the place i was staying. my mom was working abroad and i had no one to lean on. it lead me into thinking "suicide" as days went by. i was alone, i was scared, i was overthinking, the me from before wouldn't even care how he looks like whenever he goes outside. the me now will always care what the people around him think of him. i became someone who i never wanted to become. suicide thoughts was always on my mind. it never left me. up until now, im still struggling and still hoping that one day, i will be okay. yes theory, you may not read this or even see this, but i just want to let you know, you guys were one of the reasons why im still here.

When I was 16, I spent almost 2 months in 23 hour a day lockdown while waiting for trial. I read books for days straight and had the craziest lucid dreaming where I was in the setting of the books I was reading. It really does something to your mind, and it made me realize I did not want to spend another minute being incarcerated. This Korean prison doesn't seem so bad though! At the very least you have privacy on the toilet! 😂

Stefan, you are such a beautiful soul and opening up, being vulnerable is a gift, many people are missing these days. Here is a ♥ for you from Austria. I hope our paths cross at some point in this lifetime, I owe you a hug 😊

After losing my mother at a young age due to the same circumstances Stephan was talking about it actually made me really happy to hear his thoughts about it and what he does to help other people, how sometimes the loss of loved ones can inspire us to help others and help ourselves, it is such a great and depressing moment for a person, but at the same time it is a great gift if you just look in the right spots, my mother loved birds, so I always think of her when birds land close to me, I have gotten way more aware of it afterwards. thank you for that Stephan, you're great guy and I am sure your friend would be proud too

Stefan's story about his friend and how he honors his memory was so genuine and heartwarming, I teared up a bit. It is crazy to most people to think that prison could be like a vacation almost because it's break from your hectic life. This makes me hopeful that those that are really in jail and prison can think about their actions and mistakes like you said, and hopefully if they get out, then can really embrace it as a "clean slate" per say because they are given the chance to change things around. I only wish most jails would be a bit more rehabilitative, like providing counseling/ therapy and things like that to actually help them to not make the same mistakes. Obviously I'm not saying violent offenders and murderers should get therapy and get released, I'm just saying that America's jail system seems to lack certain elements that can actually help someone. It's more punitive than corrective (even though they are supposed to be correction officers and it's supposed to be the department of corrections), but I'm sure the "tough love kind of approach does work for many. Ok wow I rambled a lot on that but great video, I love how unique your ideas are. I love yes theory videos so much

Hey Stephan, I loved hearing you talk about helping others and asking for help. I have been the recipient and the giver of help. It gets easier to ask when you practice and it makes giving help seem effortless. Volunteering is a wonderful way to find community if you feel lonely, great way to make friends. I found out I had cancer that was thankfully treatable. I invited 10 friends to a circle to talk about it and drink tea. We shared stories and set up a group text. Whenever I had a need, ride back from treatment, a pot of soup, walk for my dog, someone always picked up the slack. Now that text thread is still used for others who need support and I can give back! How cool is that?! Oh, I live in Colorado.

I love my state.

How Staffan opened up is amazing and beautiful. Helping others sounds easy, but getting help can be amazingly difficult. I have no experience with Betterhelp, but I do have enough experience with therapy; I advise everyone to at least make an appointment. Understanding why you are who you are and why you do what you do is extremely valuable.

Thomas, I cannot express how much I admire and envy at the same time you guys doing this. I want to figure out a way to get my passport so quick just to go to South Korea or something similar in order to DISCONNECT for my soul to reconnect. I need it now more than I ever have. Thank you YT for being such a great reminder of how good life can be, if you only make the choice to let go in order to hold on to what is meant for us in this life.

Not a video goes by you guys where I just don't get emotionally moved, I live in Iowa of the US and sometimes it's hard to feel connected to people when living in a small town area in Iowa. Steffan opening up this episode really got to me this time and just makes me want to find others around me. One day I hope to be able to go on journeys across the world like y'all, it just really motivates me when I see all the genuine and real people you come across over the years. I've yet to even travel on a plan, but the day I get to finally make that leap I know the ones who helped me find my path was Yes! Theory. it’s much easier said than done, but i was in your shoes just in March. I was around people who i wasn’t sure if they wanted to hang out, be my friend, etc. YOU SHOULD NEVER feel that way around people who truly care. it took a few months of reflecting and going on my own journey without any friends, but i eventually found some pretty frickin cool people that make such an effort to include me and make me feel wanted in the friend group. There are people out there that will appreciate you. A bottle of water can be free somewhere. it costs about $2 at shoprite. $.30 at costco. $10 at the airport. It’s not you, it’s the people and places around you that make you feel priceless or worthless. it’s your job to shift yourself out of a bad situation. I hope you can find better people to be your friends, i think you deserve it :)

Thank you for this. I’m a hospital worker in Japan and was part of a covid cluster, we were immediately whisked to a locked quarantine facility for 8 days with only the possessions we had taken to work that day. I forgot my phone charger:-/ 3 bento boxes a day, basically it was a nice hotel and we were locked alone in our room with the only personal contact a 2 minute check in phone call with a nurse every morning at 7am. It’s amazing how quickly your priorities change, looking forward to seeing what piece of fruit you will get with each meal and cherishing each tiny bite. We’re amazing, each and every one of us, we can do things, we can survive things that we cannot even imagine. Be well everyone.

This channel is the reason I left the comfort of staying with my parents to move to a state I had never visited (New Hampshire) to take a new addition to my career path (teaching financial literacy in addition to financial advising) to interact with people in a culture I have not had much of any experience before (a semi-rural area instead of the cities I grew up in). I cannot say if this position was the smartest choice financially. Nor has it been easy so far. But it is in part due to the messages of this channel that I have continued to push myself further. Better. My first experience with this channel was back when I was 17 (I am now 24), where I decided to strike up a conversation with the people in the 3 hour line with me at the DMV in Pasadena, California. This channel is why I try to talk to my neighbors on any flight. Allowing me to feel comfortable with interacting with the world. Thank you to the Yes Theory team.

The world was very different when I was your age no cell phones & no internet, I'm on the spectrum, I had to watch my mother to learn the benefits of talking to people but there are many. I'm currently in Colorado.. I feel like I can't connect with others deeply anymore. I isolate myself out of fear. I don't know if I have the strength or will to change that myself. If I was locked in that room I'd probably break down crying due to immense feeling of loneliness, emptiness, pain built up from the past, and fear. Also, I love your videos and the message you send in them.

jay is such a cool guy. Also I can say I do relate to stuff you guys said I always try to think about my life and where its heading or why am I here, what's my character even if it costs me extra two hours without sleep I think it's really important. And I appreciate that Steffan shared his story with us it was sad, but also inspiring. I am constantly lonely even if I am with people and it all made me get worse, because I just study and need to see all those people every day and deal with them and its really not seeking discomfort its literally being in discomfort every single day and that's gonna last for 3 years. However bigs up for what you do and how you do it, you are amazing people and maybe I will start asking for help, I just didn't receive a lot when I asked for it, but that's again the cage as u mentioned

This channel is a very profound channel in the way you guys live life. You open up about your struggles and you find ways to overcome them, while bringing people in with you.

I really appreciate this video, it gave me some insight on how truly alone I am. Even though I interact with people on a daily basis I fail to share my experiences and feelings, which makes me feel isolated and alone. Although you suggested spending some time alone at the end of the video I think I need to do the opposite lol. Beautiful video though, as always ❤❤

Thanks Staffan, for the words i often find myself in the dilemma of asking for help. I find myself alone amidst all the people around me. I help everyone motivate them for when they are low or i sense a negative energy in them but when i am at my worst i feels so isolated and crumbling within myself , my anxiety starts to kick in my breath feels heavy i want to shout or talk but i can't. There is only silence, watching yes theory makes me feel a bit more relaxed.

I am currently in South Korea for the first time thousands of miles away from the comforts I so often cling to and to say it has been easy would be a lie. This video is a weird sort of crossover for my mental and physical worlds. I've been thinking about how I want to embody the Yes Theory motto more and the teachings and thoughts spoke about in this video seem like a good starting point in opening myself to this new country around me. Thank you for this video.

I realized near the end that this actually something similar to what I've envisioned having. A retreat in the country, with lots of silence, community time and no phones. I just don't know if I can ever do it

Why not just do a vipassana retreat? 😂 or just practice more conscious phone use?
