This test is not a very good test as she say. There are only 2 cups of coffee and then it’s a 50/50% chance it’s right or wrong. If it had been 10 cops of coffee and then she had right , then she is good. But this is just guessing

Please keep in mind in these video we are comparing one espresso shot from each and they don’t differ that much. What this video does not compare is the consistency, capability and the speed of the machines producing multiple espresso shots. Those are some of the factors in that $2,700 difference. When you want a cup or two in the morning at your home, get the $300 machine. When you want to run a cafe that serves more than a hundred of cups throughout the day, get the $3,000 machine.

How to make good espresso is not rocket science it's all over the internet, and manufacturer probably did more research than any of us users when making their coffee maker. So imo an expensive machine is more to durability and capability to produce MORE per day for commercial than for home use, and nothing more, but cmiiw.

For anyone looking to get into coffee, the priorities for what to spend money on are as follows: 1. Get whole beans and grind them yourself. I started out with a really shitty $15 blade grinder, but my french pressed coffee from freshly ground beans was better than anything I could buy outside of a specialty shop. 2. Upgrade your beans. Going from off-the-shelf (or amazon) to roasted-on-demand is another giant jump. Better beans = better coffee. 3. Upgrade your grinder. Grind consistency and the ability to tweak your grinder's settings means that you can actually create a recipe. The Sette 270 is highly recommended because, despite its $400 price tag, it outperforms a lot of grinders that cost more than twice its price. That being said, any burr grinder can work if you're not doing espresso. 4. Get a kitchen scale and something to use as a timer. Weighing your beans and final product lets you begin to figure out the correlation between taste and rate of extraction. For example, some beans might benefit more from being more coarsely ground with a higher final weight while others might work the opposite way 5. Upgrade your espresso machine. As long as your machine is compatible with a bottomless portafilter (which can allow you to 'debug' issues with your tamping) and comes with a commercial-grade steam wand, you're good to go. A single boiler can be good as well since it means more consistent temperatures. Overall, a Gaggia Classic is recommended since it checks all of the above boxes and has a really big community for any modding or repair work that might need to be done. For $500 (or less if you buy one used because it's really easy to find repair parts and guides online), it's a really good machine. On a separate note, I really wonder why they didn't do any manual pre-infusion on the rocket machine and why they used the same exact grinder for both machines instead of using 2 of the same grinder, each dialed in for each separate machine. IMHO, it would've been more clear if those were done...

Probably close in the beginning but I have had a rocket for almost 20 years now and still pulling great shots and coffee drinks without a hitch daily as well as for countless large and small parties. Most of my friends over the same period have been through at least 5 or 6 machines with varying degrees of disgust and anger at failures during events etc.. you don’t pay that much more for the initial uses you pay for the long term reliability and consistency. Or not either way is perfectly fine it’s just a matter of choice and wallet.

Vor 3 Monate

looking at the price is not the right angle here.. because the 3000dollar machine gives you way more opportunities to tweak your shot and the machineparts will survive longer and it you can use it in a buisness.

If you couldn't clearly say one machine was better than the other my guess is you had a 50/50 chance of going either way. My feeling is getting good shots boils down to strengthening the weakest link in making a shot. In a lot cases it's a poor grinder and possibly more often, stale coffee. I find it amazing how often friends of mine buy a week or older coffee, dump the entire amount in their grinder's hopper and use it for weeks letting it get even more stale. Filling the hopper works for a coffee house where they use up the hopper in one day but not for the home brewer who could take weeks using up the coffee in a hopper. Love your channel.

Everybody talking about how you don't taste the 2700$ price difference. Guys, it's not necessarily the difference in taste but in reliability! These cheap machines are designed to break shortly after the warranty expires. Whereas with the professional machines designed to withstand hundreds of shots a day, you can easily get spare parts.

I’ve had 3 different espresso machines: a $350 Gaggia, a $900 Cuadra HX, and now a $1600 Rocket Apartamento. Grinder has been the same (Baratza Vario) and I roast my own beans. Each step up in machine has resulted in far better shots. The rocket is significantly better than the Cuadra even though both are HX with E61 brew heads, also it foams milk so much better: micro foam every time, whereas I got it maybe 5% of the time on the Cuadra. Look, if there was really no difference between a $300 and $3000 machine, people would not be paying that much. Do some taste tests yourself and you’ll see a difference. Is it a 10x better difference? No, but it’s significant.
