I really do think Boxing is still the all around best self defense skill to teach your sons and daughters, I remember when I was in 8th grade and I was standing next to my friend who had just started taking boxing lessons at a local gym, for only maybe a couple months, and this other kid a bully walked right up to him got in his face and started talking trash..... and I kid you not.... even to this day I can not really describe to you what happened. ALL I SAW was barely a flash coming from my friend and then the bully kid who was in front of him holding his cheek in pain. And I was in disbelief I was so confused as to what just happened because I didn't even see my friend throw a punch, thats how fast his strike was, the bully didn't get the hint and was still in front of him and now he is more angry and even more mad and he kept talking in my friends face..... then I saw another flash and again I didn't even see the punch all I saw was the bullys head rocked back and he was by now crying and finally running away. So like I said I didn't see the punch and my only guess is my friend threw 2 quick jabs so quick no one even saw it. The moral of the story I really think boxing is so under rated, if you want your kid to have some self defense skills boxing is still probably a very viable option.
