At the core of the problem is that rich people do not wish that the poor people ever obtain a lifestyle they have had themselves. Unlike fake virtual money, there is just not enough of real stuff to go around. So at some point making the poor richer must involve making the rich poorer - that is not allowed to happen. From the rich people's viewpoint thanks to technological advances the poor dumb masses are just a nuisance and also a potential risk of revolt (e.g. see Taliban). It would be best if they could just die off or at the very least stop reproducing. But the damn pest just doesn't want to. Hence Bill Gates and the rest of his smart pals decided to save the world by convincing all poor people that they are to blame and should from now on voluntarily restrict themselves. If they do not comply, they will be beaten up (see Australia, New Zealand), imprisoned, converted into slaves and/or die. The good old feudal system where the rich were really rich and poor really poor will thus be restored, which will also enhance the feelings of being rich (what point is there of being a rich sociopath if everyone can practically afford the same stuff? it's just not fun) We call that fairy tale the "climate change", and it can be made more credible by setting some forests on fire and - by owning all the media and censoring comments like this one - putting some great emphasis on some minor events that have always occurred and have nothing to do with human activity. Guilt has always been a very powerful means to control people (see how well it works with managing the pandemic).

Its kinda sad that they didnt even mention the global effect of creating electric cars... everyone thinks they will save the world but dont forget that those giant batteries are creating more carbon from their creation than most other things emit, not to mention the horrible way they are created and the negative impact from the resource extraction in the countries the minerals come from, and on top of all of that most of the energy that is needed to charge your electric car comes from coal powered plants and other negative carbon impacting methods.

We aren't going to stop it. It's been going on for millennia and a few billion humans won't be able to change that. The problem is money is involved,d and when money is involved, people will find a way to make money from it. Al Gore has been campaigning against climate change for years, yet he owns half a dozen houses and uses far far more energy than most of us.

Yes lets make the world great for rich people, they will afford flying, polluting, eating meat. First thing that must happen is no segregation to people, no divide to those that can do what they told and those that do what they want.

The only thing I don't like is how you put "not eating meat" - and not even a word about other animal produce - on the same level as driving electric car. Eating plant-based is so much easier than "just getting a new car" that many countries still don't have a proper infrastructure to fuel anyway to top it off with.

Climate change is a big concern but it also kind of obscures other issues like pollution, water contamination, plastics, low quality food, habitat destruction, overpopulation, species extinction. It makes us a bit overfocused on this one thing.

I think this individual vs systemic change narrative doesn't line up with reality. It's should be both-and, not either-or. Systems are regulated by individuals through voting, consumer pressure, internal leadership, etc.. Individual choices are influenced by systems through govt policy, product availability, information resources etc.. Making progress in one area prompts progress in the other. When individuals decide climate action is important, they have the power to influence systems and make climate action stronger and more accessible to more individuals. If the hundredth individual didn't bother because how could their small changes make an impact, then how could we ever get to the millionth or the billionth person? Even the example in the video- one second is negligible, but 7 billion seconds is more than 200 years. Some people have the capacity to do more, so they should help make those changes mainstream and accessible, eg. buying fancy meat alternatives to create a market that eventually provides more diverse and lower price point options. The reality is that everyone should be doing everything they can (and not everyone can do everything) because there is no future where this happens overnight. I don't think I'm disagreeing with the video exactly, it's more a matter of emphasis.

Even though Africa is rich on resources and potentially could be prosperous continent, the main problem here is that it is being constantly exploited by western countries and China. They tent to keep dictators and pseudo democratic goverments as their puppets at the power that provide cheap access to those resources. So the goverment and leading elite is very rich but common people suffer and goverment does anything for them. This is a situation in most African countries. Only few of them was able to do something about that.

No YOU can't solve climate change and no your focus shouldn't be to buy an electric car or vote in polls because those things don't make a difference. If you really want to survive this the things YOU can and should do are the following: build a self sufficient community, rewild your local eco regions, dismantle industrial infrastructure give land back to indigenous peoples and grow food for you and your community.

Here’s the issue with renewable energy and biodegradable this and that and that eco friendly thing: they need to compete against the stuff we already have. Nobody is winning if we pay more for tech that is less productive, reliable and durable. When you provide subsidies, you are telling them it is ok not to be better than to established tech. If I remember correctly, Canada will not longer sell gas cars past 2030. As it is right now, electric cars need subsidies in order to sell. (They will obviously disappear when they become the only choice) there is next to no charging stations for EVs and for twice the price of a gas car, an EV will have 2/3 of a gas car autonomy. And we are not even counting phantom drain in winters When you buy a phone, you never downgrade. Why would you downgrade when it comes to renewable energy, biodegradables and eco friendly things? Nothing that is forced is better. The buyer should always have the choice. Competition is what makes the world evolve.

It shouldn’t really be that you should do it for your tiny tiny part in systemic change(although that is a tiny part), but it should be that you really really want to take part in the new changes because they are fun, adventurous and exciting. And ultimately makes you and society happier, healthier and smarter so that we can ascend our civilization for propelling the human race forward. Wanting to create these fun ideas fall in the hands of the chosen few, but everyone can have the enthusiasm to help fight for the best results. Taking care of our home before we adventure beyond is the only way to be certain we can return. Because there will be many amazing worlds that we can surf, there is only one place called Planet Earth.
