(Well, Eleven anyway, since Nine never knew her and Ten met her but hadn't the faintest idea of what she would be to him later.) She is the love of his life, and he is hers. And with Peter and Alex being closer in age than he and Jenna, it's just a beautiful portrayal of two people who have finally found their soul mates - a bit late, perhaps, but all the more romantic for that.

I mean, really, just calling it Villanelle Must Die at the start would've saved us a lot of heartache.

Just fastforwarding through Laura Neal's ego to the Sandra and Jodie parts. Wouldn't it have been so much more interesting and coherent to allow Villanelle to achieve the change she so badly wanted through 4 seasons? As it was, she changed substantially for the better over time, and certainly more than Eve. The culmination should have been how they found themselves through each other, and saved each other. The characters, actors, and fans deserved their happiness. But no, some shallow morality that was totally contrary to the moral ambiguity and complexity of the entire series, complete with dreadful Christian iconography (and a sadistic Christian camp story to fully justify her death) prevailed, to no one's satisfaction. Yes, it was homophobic. Yes, it was racist to fail to show Eve's backstory when everyone else's was portrayed. Yes, it was brutal to show them finally happy and at a gay wedding only to incomprehensibly be ended--and shockingly badly done. Still amazed at how the ending was considered acceptable on any level. Really unfortunate that Kayleigh Llewellyn's queerness and superior talent weren't allowed to showrun S5. No more #BuryYourGays.

As a parent that was in this situation for years with a son fighting heart disease, I can attest that Mr. Depp is spot on. Being told your son won't live past age 12 is hard. Leaving the hospital when he is 32 and fully healthy is a gift. And being able to sit and give hope to the parents facing the same fears you faced years ago is a blessing and responsibility. These parents are terrified, tired, battle worn, and any thing that can give them hope is a gift.
