The general style roughly corresponds to the years 1820-30, the era of early romanticism. This is not in any way a reproach, but just a statement of fact. But what would I advise the author: You need to diversify the piano texture, it is often schematic (you very often use the bass chord figure in your left hand, while the chords themselves in the middle register are presented in an elementary way: in the basic form (even without inversions) and in close location). (I don’t know how accurately an electronic translator will be able to translate this from Russian into English). As an experience of mastering a certain stage in the development of musical thinking in your personal creativity, this is quite good. Go for it, author, you are definitely a capable person!

*Oh yeah, here's the composer's comment, because he told me he's having trouble posting here:* Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity, to have one of my compositions featured on your wonderful channel! It means very much to me, and I really appreciate it! I have revised this piece a couple of times since I included the PDF in the Google Forms, and I fixed parts of the piece I thought needed fixing (including metronome marks, more dynamics in some places, some tempo modifications here and there, etc. in the process). All in all, I think the revision is a better version, and the one I advise people to listen to. For those who would like to listen to the revised version, you can find it through the link in the description. It is of my MuseScore account, which also includes other earlier works, or if you prefer, the link to the piece itself to save yourself some time: musescore.com/a_afifi21/capriccio-in-a-minor-ali-afifi. On a more personal note: Without comments like these, and without the constant positive support of the listeners, it would've been very hard to get motivation to compose new works, so I am very, very thankful to anyone who listens and continues to listen to my works! A big thank you once again to gsarci; I am very happy and thankful to be featured on your channel.

Very nice job, Ali! Strangely, the first theme gives me Spanish vibes, a bit like the "Fandango" movement of Boccherini's Guitar Quintet no. 4. It's a very nice sonata, I wager even the great musicians of the late-18th and early-19th centuries would consider this a first-rate work (as do I).

I really like piano music as such in 2021! Music should be accessible to ears. Somehow, "the greater" contemporary composers are mostly writing music that "evolutionary" which does not reflect true life and people. I wish this piece could be developed more, cause I find it has potential (The Reminiscence is clear a beginning movement for a music that at least 20 mins long! But, no worries, I saw your description ;) I have my best wishes for you on your journey as a composer!

Vor 7 Tage
Loui & Rumi Music
Loui & Rumi Music

@Jakob Du Yes, originally I had more ideas to develop from the theme, but it was going to be too long (and difficult for me to play 😅) at the time. As far as your comment on contemporary composers go, I think they do write things that reflect true life and people, but instead of focusing on the broad pictures of them like previous eras of composers had done, they focus more on the details and experiment with that. But again, just my opinion as well 😊 Thank you for listening!

You are correct! I edited the ending chord after the performance was recorded because I thought (and still do) that the higher ending chord is more powerful in a way. Thank you for listening!
