When you put the cross beams, you make the slots on the same side of the beams. Structurally there is one degree of freedom on it and it will move out of it. I know this might be too late, but could you try putting the slots on opposite sides of the beam. What you need then to achieve stability is to have one cross beam open in clockwise direction on along the axis perpendicular to the table and the other one anti-clockwise.

Beware: you need a "Baugenehmigung " if you do something that concerns the static of a building. At an other person on youtube had that problem and they closed his construction site. Maximum respect for your work.

It's no longer the Ship of Theseus, it's the House of Kampf.

This is actually amazing to see! The history of the house, how things used to be done. Seeing the care and love you're taking to do this. Truly amazing and very cool. Thank you for the share.

I watched the last video of the series so far ("Whoopsie! I wish this was clickbait") and now I'm going through all the videos. I'm loving this series but hearing you say 1:37 "I think... there will be more surprises from the outside" was kind of heartbreaking knowing what's to come.

What if - hear me out - a kind of medium to large cutting board. When folded it would be a storage for cooking implements, knives, etc, but opened it would be a surface for cooking. A bigger version of the above. Now I should see if this is even a thing that exists yet.

As someone who definitely doesn't have access to that many tools and resources, I would love to try those dice with some friends of mine and see what we can make with even weirder stuff haha. Like... milk cartons and that kinda crap 😅

This is so devastating. I’ve always lived in older homes, in the US, so nothing under a hundred but not extremely OLD. The oldest was from 1850. There were endless projects, endless work to preserve and maintain, to restore and honor the history. I’ve never liked new homes, ever, and I deeply admire and appreciate people who recognize stewardship in caring for older structures. That said…this is just excruciating to endure as a mere viewer. Godspeed Laura, it WILL be worth it in the end, after the water, the coffee and the rest!! Grateful you’ve got a good team. This is the best example of OPTIMISM I think it feels good when the decision is over, you’re in it, it’s happening, the worst case scenario and it’s not THAT bad, and now you have faith moving forward that things will be exactly how you like them. It’s an exercise in silver lining hunting.

If I were working on this house and were about to replace beams, I’d have them fire or char sealed like the Japanese do. Takes care of bugs ever eating it because they won’t. Toxic chemical free and sealed naturally.

I love them both, equally, independent of each other, that said…the sum is greater than the parts.

Hello Laura. I am so sad to see that the house is so broken. I hope you get all the help you can get, and finish the project with a beautiful and nice play to live. Are you going to build in the same style, or make a other construction ? Take care. i wish you all the best. Best wishes from Jan in Norway
