haerin's thing I believe is meta with real life cause ever since they debuted haerin's been called a cat cause of her face features and even though her representative animal was a hamster (i think) people just kept using cat and calling her a cat (even when she clearly preferred the frog from what I've seen). so she just settled for it and now refers to herself as a cat as well

the only thing i don't like about new jeans is the members :( they dont seem to be aware of the meaning behind their mvs, there are videos of them reacting to their videos on their channel you can see that they have no idea of what's going on (don't get me wrong they trained hard and worked hard but is not enough for me)

the a and b sides music videos are just literally talking about the words "escape, reality, grow, maturity, youth, imperfections, comfort zone, and friends."

some people making kpop idols, musics, music videos, videos in the internet by using a technology as an escape and comfort zone until they got stuck and don't wanna come out anymore because they're afraid to face the problems which is the reality happening in their lives. a person needs to grow by facing, fixing, solve and overcome problems in life that helps us to have a mature mindset. and the imperfections that also defines of who we are, we're all human. fat, skinny, pwd and mistakes? that is imperfections and reality that we have to accept in order for us to grow and be more mature. kpop idols or kpop artist can be your friends but the only thing is weird we can only see, watch or hear them through a phone or whatever gadget it is. artist and supporters relationship, friendship works.

It's still funny to me how all the industry is searching for crazier and crazier concepts to get ahead and New Jeans just sweeps everything away by being so simplistic and more authentic. But I do feel it's a bit bold to have this concept with a group full of minors who debuted in this toxic industry. Because for sure debuting at hyein's age would increase the risk of creating an identity crisis down the line.

My theory for Haerin's delusion of thinking she's a cat reminds me of how most idols are associated with some sort of cute animal. For example, in BTS, Jimin is a chick, Yoongi is a cat, Jungkook is a rabbit, etc. Translator fans typically use animal emojis to differentiate each member. It is also done by the staff in several BangtanTV videos, and there is of course also their BT21 collection which keeps promoting the animal comparisons (except some of the animals vary here e.g Chimmy the dog was created by Jimin). There are similar comparisons in New Jeans - I don't know the fandom that well but I think Danielle is a puppy and I assume Haerin is a cat. I believe that the MV shows that these animal comparisons are getting to Haerin's head and it's driving her crazy to the point where she believes she has to become a cat/or keep acting like a cat in order to be loved by the fandom and media.

I think another layer of Minji's delusion is a callback to Ditto - remember that Ban Heesoo had her arm in a cast? The implication there was that Kpop and NewJeans were a way to deal with injury and damage and stress from real life. If you look at it from the other side, that means NewJeans also is expected to provide that comfort and healing to their fans, like Minji is trying. But the fact is, of course, they're also in the madhouse with the rest of us and it's neither realistic nor fair to expect them to be healing us.

It’s fake woke bullshit because hybe and newjeans in particular does nothing to challenge it except for mv messages. The company has figured out how to create parasocial relationships with fans just like any other company, maybe even going further sometimes. If there truly was care, they would not control their image the way they do, not overwork their idols and especially minors and expose them to this toxic industry, which they even recognize is toxic. Cool on the creative team’s part, but I just don’t see how it’s genuine.
