Don’t understand you on this one Nigel...French tackler was never making a legal tackle as that left arm was never wrapping and he even reshaped it so the contact of his upper arm made extra force to the head. So should have been no mitigation. Nor was the position of the tackled player relevant as he had been low for a while before he is hit. Yet you brushed over Tom Curry incident in about 3 seconds last time...an incident where the Argentinian landed on a virtually stationary Curry rather than the other way around. Even the bok fans were saying it was a complete accident. It’s getting to the point where there is such a strong anti-English feeling in the game (and the world), I’m beginning to wonder if they even are held to exactly the same rules as everyone else anymore.

Not sure if Sexton is playing for Ireland but go anywhere near his neck or shoulders he will go down like a sack of potato’s. The number of times Ireland end up playing against 13 or 14 players is well documented and Sexton is the one normally behind it.

How on earth can that be deemed NOT a red, whilst Tom Curry was a week before, for simply hugging a player.? The entire system of assessing risk/mitigation is totally inconsistent, referees have no idea what they're working to, they're relying on "feel" and, tragically, it's giving very mixed messages to players.

The high ball should not be jumped up at. It is a stupid rule where two players are attempting to catch the ball, naturally the jumper is going to come out second best.. the jumper is actually attempting to kick or knee the other catcher in the head.. another is head clashers, you tell they are accidental and yet you find the tackler at fault, anyhow scrums are a farce, bullshit refereeing,... oh well, i feel better now.. i had my rant...😊

Oh please. 0:45 is literally the same tackle that got Sonny Bill Williams sent off during the Lions tour to New Zealand back in 2017. A smaller player, being already on the downward trajectory from another player's tackle, gets shoulder-hit with no attempt to use the arm. No one had any qualms about that red, and it should've been no different here.

At no point was there a change in height, he was at the height he went in at, that was a clear red. If de Groote was awarded a red then so was Romains, at least with de Groote the player dropped his head into the shoulder, I don’t often disagree with Nigel but this was a poor take.

To be fair to Nigel - he was actually saying both of these could have gone either way - De Groot was a very slight glancing blow - so may have had lower degree of danger - Romains had higher degree - but more mitigation apparently - both should have been the same in my opinion Romains looked more dangerous to me - these were both subjective -If Romain was upgraded to a red in game - it would have been upheld at judiciary - and if De Groots was deemed yellow in game - it would have stayed that way post game - just luck of the draw - again people have to change going forward to tackles where 2 defenders work together

Difference between 10 minutes off and the rest of the game followed by a 2 -6 week ban have never been so minute. My feeling is they were both red.

It's a shame that Grant and Canan are not playing against Ireland. We could have had a turbocharged backline.
